After changing everything in my valvetrain I still have some valvetrain noise, not much, but it's a brand new engine and I want to solve it.
I have verified that I have good lifters, I just installed newly rebuilt rocker shafts from TA, the cam is a new TA 290-94, dual grooved cam bearings, new stock valve springs, and new stainless valves cut to stock height spec's. Lots of oil pressure (36psi at hot idle) and great flow to the heads (old oiling system/solid pushrods).
I know that the base circle on the TA cam is .030" smaller than a stock cam, and I know that the Felpro gaskets are .020" thicker than stock. My heads had about .002" taken off to true them and the block had the same.
So .030"/2=.015"(correction for cam base circle)
.020-.002-.002=.016" (correction for head gasket and decking)
    .015+.016=.031"(total correction for changed parts)
Is there any reason to not call TA and have them make me a set of .030" longer pushrods vice the adjustable route?

Len - What i did was use an adjustable pushrod in several rocker locations to get an averaged and correct measurement and then had TA make me a set to my length

Something about the idea of running adjustables full time just doesn't sit right by me.

Yeah, I'm not an adjustable pushrod kinda guy either. I think for a mostly strip car they're probably a good choice, as your changing you combo frequently.
I would think that in a fulltime/longterm installation you would have to deal with loosening. Maybe just my perception :Do No: .
And because I haven't been able to find it anywhere, What is the stock length of a pushrod for the 400/430's?

I sure am, with the RIGHT pushrods.

Smith Brothers, Bend, Oregon, make the best in the world, Just about every top fuel and Funny Car engine uses their stuff, and every Pro-Stocker, and most of the NASBORE stuff, and lots of other people, with no problems.

I use Smith Brothers adjustable pushrods in every set distance valvetrain engine I build. NEVER had one bit of a problem with them, even in a few 215's that run consistantly to 7,500 rpms. Not one problem, no matter the rocker, valve spring, etc. Not one.
