Can anyone recommend a good source for a 1960 model 401 fuel pump please?

My original rebuildable style was replaced with a current Napa replacement which lasted about a "whole" 300 miles (max).

Would a $25 5lb electric pump be the best option or does someone have another thought on this?My motor is a stock 401 with factory a/c.

I did notice the arm on this most recent pump had some pretty good wear on the top of the fuel pump arm also.

Anyhow any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:TU:

Well, I didn't hear any disagreement with the electric pump so I got a Purolator brand 4 to 7 psi pump (part#12S) from PepBoys for $24.99 so I guess that's what I'll be using unless anyone has any last minute thought's.

My car has the gas pedal accuated starter so hopefully this won't be a problem with wiring the pump, or maybe I'll just use a dedicated switch?

    Thanks

As I'm reading these pump installation instructions and where to mount away from heat and all it was just a little unnerving to see the spanish translation for this fuel pump..........

"La BOMBA"!:jd: :jd: Now THAT'S going to help the ole confidence level:laugh:

Guess that's still better than my car being a Chevy "Nova"
    which translate to "Dosen't go!"

And they wondered why these didn't sell very well over there:Dou:

The purolator pump should work fine for you. I recommend placing as close to the gas tank as possible (such as on the frame rail)as most electric pumps are "pushers" not "pullers" as like you original pump. You definately should put an inline filter between the tank and the pump a little dirt or sand can ruin a new pump in minutes.

You also may want to wire it to the ignition switch so it goes on and off with your key for saftey reasons.

    SHould work very well.

    Joe,

Thanks for the responce buddy. You answered a couple more of the questions I was also having prior to the install as far as location, filter and power source.

I wish I could pick up power somewhere closer than the ignition as that is going to be a bunch of wire to run but with the saftey concerns it is worth it.

    Thanks again :TU:
