    Mike,
I got the GM blue door sticker at Carlisle for 10 bucks. They sell these in a 2 pc set.The one is the blue sticker and the other is a clear piece that you put it on the door with. The lady told me to make a few copies of the blue piece on a xerox machine then practice putting the numbers on the copies with a typewriter. When you get it to where you are satisfied, you take your blue sticker and put that in the typewriter with a sheet of carbon paper .You type the numbers on it and then stick the clear on the blue piece .Then you are ready to install it on the door.I hope this doesn't sound too hard.It really is an easy task.

    r72gs Another project........

Any chance the sheet you found was for another GS? Mine was the wrong one as well, but I was able to locate the owner of the car thru this forum.

DON'T think it is for a GS... the build sheet... but is 67 which is a convertible...body serial # on this sheet is "001027" which does not match my car serial #...i am thinking that the numbers of the body and the car would be the same... THANKS... mike_gs

Pat,are you speaking of the small square sticker that just says GM or the larger rectangular sticker that has the cars VIN typed on it? I need the later and would love to find out the name of the place that makes them if you know it.

You can pick these tags up on E-bay quite regularly. Sometimes they go for as much as 35 bucks. The Parts Place has them I think. they are the same for all GM and for several years of cars I think.

Golly, that first E-Bay listing is pretty misleading. The heading is worded as if it's a gen-u-wine GM part; then the fine print says it's a reproduction.
I'm glad to hear Osborne Reproductions is doing something decent these days. Many moons ago, when they were the only game in town, I bought a jack-stowage sticker and it was the worst reproduction I've ever seen, to date. I wonder if their new ones are any better....

    Hey Guys,

I was wondering if someone has, or knows, where there is a photo of a restored (or unrestored) 69 GS that has one of these stickers in it's original location? That way I could duplicate it's position when I get my sticker. I would also like to see a photo of an original sticker ( where the VIN info is and such) in this post if someone has one, instead of relying on somebody who doesn't exclusively focus on Buicks. Man this board has saved my life with where this kind of stuff goes! Thanks to all!

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

I'm definitely no expert about '69 Buicks but I know for sure that '69 GTO's did not have the blue sticker with the VIN on the drivers door. My original paint '69 GTO never had one. GTOs didn't get them until '70. I'm almost positive the same is true for the '69 Chevelle since the assembly manual only shows a tire pressure decal for the door of the '69 Chevelle. Although I know all '70 Chevelles did have them. I think GM started using this sticker with the VIN in 1970 on all brands and models. Can someone show a '69 that has an original VIN decal (not a reproduction)?

    Edited 07-08-03:

Regarding what Gary said in his last post, does anyone know if 69 GS's had the tag we are talking about, or did they have just the "GM mark of excellence" sticker that Year One sells. When referring to their catalog it says; "the 69 and later cars used a decal with the build date, VIN, and emissions info". So I assumed that the decal we are discussing here is the one they were talking about. Heck I don't even know what (the sticker that Year One is referring to) they look like! Can someone post a photo of that sticker? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Wish I'd have takin a picture

Guys I wish I'd have takin a picture of it. but I parted out a '70 Stg-1 4-speed, & the "blue sticker" in question in this post had a HAND WRITTEN vin# on it, now this was a parts car so no $$$ was really to be gained by the #'s (this was approx 10 years ago) I'm figuring the car was wrecked & the door changed when it was a couple years old, these #'s didn't mean much back then.

Have any of you found a type font that looks like the original?

I bought the repro Osborne sticker, based on this thread. I was going to scan it and print my own with the VIN added to the scan, but cleaned up my original and decided to stay with it. So, short answer, I never got around to hunting for the correct font.
    Sorry...
