Update: There were a few minor set backs on Monday and Tuesday at the Buick Doctor, after everything was ready to fire up the LiL 350, turned the key and nothing. Thinking it could of been a ground wire, they were all checked and were all nice and tight. The Buick Doctor found the problem to be a wire in the harness going to the starter. Today I walked into the Buick Clinic and the LiL GS 350 was idling like a new born GS. :TU:
LiL 350 2 B overhualed is now officially 350&LiLBit (.30 over) All Done, just waiting to come home depending on the weather now, hoping for a clear dry day to take maiden ride home. :beer
350&LiLBit was driven home tonight from the Buick Doctor, The GS performed faultlessly, it responded well and drove like a new GS with the suspension adjusted and properly aligned:TU:
The day that the GS 350 was driven home about a block from the house the car started to stumble and strong odor of gas could be detected in the car. I got the car to the garage and popped the hood, the carb looked like a waterfall spilling out gas. Got a carb from Autozone #7029240 which is for a 1969 Riviera, identical to the one on the car. Installed it and the car fired right up with no problems. :TU:
Well, the new decals where put on the car and this time the Overhaul has come to a finish, Now need to put a few miles on it to finish the breaking in process and change the oil. Was thinking on going to Captree Long Island on Sunday but might rain tonight
Tonight was a nice pleasant evening, took the GS 350 out to the local cruise and was very please with the way the engine is responding to the overhaul done by the Buick Doctor. :TU:
Last weekend I took the GS350 to the Fordham Show in The Bronx (63 miles)and was very happy with the performance of the engine, This weekend I will be attending the Buick Show in Albany, will see how it will perform on a longer trip. ray: Will keep everyone posted. Will also have the 68 Custom there, will get lots of pictures. :beers2:
Thank you Dan Today I took a ride to Albany for the BCA Event (100 Miles 1 way), the car performed faultlessly, the whole ride at 3-3200 RPM's never going over 180 degrees with today's heat and humidity. On the way home we stopped at a local cruise in Middlehope NY and just relaxed. On the way home across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge we decided to blast the Buicks across the bridge to the disbelief of all others on the bridge :bla:
You have done something that I have been thinking of but did not know how to go about it. Doctor Buick in New York all I can say is cool and wow. I was wondering how much that all ran you and did you have to provide any parts separately? Also how far out, time wise, did you have to go to get your appointment? Does anyone know of any Buick Doctor of sorts in the Florida/Georgia area? That is just friggin awesome. All the detail in the engine bay is very impressive! BTW if you do not want to post the information could you please send me a private message? WOW! :dollar: :gp:
Mike, Thank you. I didn't have to supply any parts, he ordered anything that he didn't have in stock. The total for parts was like 1500.00 not including the engine rebuild, machine shop was around 3500.00 then was like over 130 hours at the going rate of labor.
Louie Wow, that sure looks sweet. Not a bad price as far as I am concerned, especially for the quality! I think that may be the way I will have to go, although I will wait until the new aluminum head from TA come out and have them installed also. I will start searching for another Buick Doctor down south, but if not a road trip up north may not be a bad deal. Wow that sure looks sharp! :beers2: Mike
Mike Thanks, I just have the 200R4 project to finish and the 69 will be complete. I will then start on the 63 Super Wildcat and once that is finished I will do the 50 Special if still around. :TU:
