Yeah I'm pretty sure 1959 rocker arms are the best stock nailhead rocker arm. They're steel and have 1.6 ratio
So I'm still not quite sure what lifters to use. Will these be fine. http://m.ebay.com/itm/201234062696?nav=SEARCH
that helps there steel. the adjustable push rods should be better then stock ones too, you might be in good shape then.
sorry, I guess I miss spoke the small block and big block chevys look like they use the same lifters. .842 are the right size for the nailhead too. some chevys did use the .875 though
Don't get Speedmaster/Procomp lifters unless you like taking risks on your engine. I went through this years ago with many of their EDM lifters. I doubt much has changed. I've rejected every set and have never collected even 16 to date that I would use. It could be very hard to see, but there are cracks on the lifter face amongst other machining flaws. Bad place to take a chance. I no longer promote their products, but will use SOME of their stuff for budget builds. I'd use Competition products or Howard's if on the budget end of things.
It's an option. I think it's better to buy new lifters. I know there are shops that will do it, I've never explored it. They might want them cleaned first, so you have to consider the time involved in that. Would of been a good idea a few years ago during the "lifter crisis" if one was worried about quality. Might be best to send in a big batch at once. IIRC, Schneider still sells Nailhead lifters new.
