HI ... just reading over my cam card and instructions...is there any way to tell if I need to set the pre-load or need adj. pushrods???? The car seems to run fine with no noise, but doesnt have the top end power I thought it might...

Valve stem height is crutial!! They should all be within .020" of each other and be at Buick spec!!

I learned the hard way myself this lesson. Heads may need to come off again to have this corrected.

Did you degree the cam in also??

no I didnt degree the cam, this was a throw together low buck rebuild and I guess I fudged a few things that I thought I could get away with...the valve stem issue I thought I could correct with adj. pushrods...I am also running a holley 650 dp that I had lying around ...could the lack of cfm account for my lack of top end...

    thanks

You're absolutely right about that!! Tip height on the BBB needs to be at 2.080".

Even that is too much. I'd do them at +/- .005".....that would give you a max spread of .010" from the highest to the lowest. If I was doing them personally, I'd keep them between 2.075"-2.080".:Smarty: :TU:

That's too small for even a Buick 350"!!:eek2:

Get at least an 800cfm Q-jet!!:TU:

Not only will your top end power be down, but worse - you could/will lean out the engine and potentially cause serious damage!!

If that happpens....this will be you=>
