What is the pattern indicative of?
    They still have a crown.

In the past the intake was leaking water, on to the lifter bores of cyl8.
that was fixed and now i see the copper head gasket leaks on cyl7.
was running stock rockers, now roller rockers.
    Cheers!

I've seen that pattern on lifters, but I don't know what causes it.

Seems to me, my lifters had it after little more than break-in. I hadn't even installed the engine in the car yet--ran it on a test-stand. Thirty, maybe forty minutes.

Top is used , bottom is new. Seems if they are still crowned, they haven't been broken in much . The left bottom lifter is new and crowned . The right one is used and concaved.

Used lifters that are properly rotating should have a light grey circular pattern on the face.
    Your lifters look weird:eek:
I'd be concerned something is off.
The one lifter on the right (second from the bottom) of the photo looks like the face has been hammered while spinning.

They look like they are just barely broken in, the lines you're looking at are the leftover machine marks from when the crown was originally machined on them.

Why did you mix them up?
