So I've hear Holley is eventually getting out of the carbs. May be true. May not be true. They are not carrying 1000 cfm 4150 carbs on their website, not even remanufactured. Good thing, there are other carb manufacturers out there make 1000 cfm carbs for sell. Quick Fuel, AED and CCS to name few. Other than Holleys, what are you guys running? In the near future, a new Holley may be something in the past.
Holley owns QF along with most everything else like Edelbrock But the Edelbrock 4150 carbs are very nice as are the FST carbs....holleys are overpriced for what you get
I'm running an antique Barry Grant 1000cfm Silver Claw, it's been fine. This was the version before Holley called him out on patent infringement, hence his development of the new "Demon" series. I can recommend it if you find one, 100% Holley parts compatible, four corner idle, 2x power valves, adjustable air bleeds, choke horn delete, etc. Some of his carbs of this era a step up were called Gold Claw, and if I remember right, featured removable venturi inserts for tailoring air flow...but I had no need for that. I have an APD 1040 cfm billet enforcer on the Caddy (4150 pattern) one of the best carbs I've ever owned.
950 QFT on the 72 convertible. First one was not packaged well and never made it on the car, and second one needed some tuning as most box carbs do, but it works well now.
I am running two 800 cfm Quick Fuel carburetors that were manufactured before Holley bought out Quick Fuel. They may be considered a little overkill but my combination sure likes them.
Are you looking for something that just works good,or are you trying to get everything out of your carburetor. Generally speaking, you can take 10 people at a track, and only one of them will have their act together. If you are trying to reach full potential, you will not find the answer in a Summit or Jegs catalog. You need to have one custom-built. Does it cost more? Absolutely, but think about how many carbs or parts you buy when chasing your tail. You can spend multiple hours or days on the dyno, track, whatever, trying to get something that just isn't there,or you can have one custom-tailored and be done with it. Here is what I run. You won’t find this 4150 in a catalog. The only thing I have to do is change jets, depending on fuel because cat pee has a different weight than race fuel. Already got that figured out. Just drive it and make passes. I will say this: The new Edelbrock style carburetor does look promising, but still need more real-world R&D to understand its full potential.
Dale is one of the best for sure...I had very good customer service /product with Dan DaVinci as well For E85 NA or Boost Eric at horsepower innovations is the man IMO dudes tunes are SPOT ON
