    Trim tag...Anyone care to decode?

    Here's the trim tag info...

    ST 69 44667 FL1116990 BDY

    TR 185 77A PNT
    12C

1969 Buick GS 400 Convertible, Flint Built.

Pearl White bucket interior, White convertible top

Antique Gold body color? Sound right???

Now, I won't say the trans has a 'BB' code on it OR the rear end is a 10 bolt posi with 3.42's or anything... :Brow:

Been sitting out there for over 7 YEARS. The top is SPOTLESS and the interior- although moldy- is in EXCELLENT shape!!!

No, it is NOT FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :spank:

Not for sale?? Let me guess......."I'm planning on fixing her up, one of these days." Of course, by the time that day comes, the car will have rotted right into the ground! :Dou:

    Doug,
It was a 'family' car, Bought new by Dad, passed it on to his daughter, who passed it on to her brother... Who shot a piston out the side of the block. Then he decided to restore it. Took it apart and lost interest. Dad then THREW out the bumpers, fenders, inner fenders, block, heads, etc. Then, 10 years ago, sells it to this guy. He OWNS several body shops and one restoration business. 'I was going to fix it up one day. When I pulled it out there, it was MINT!!' Of course, the quarters are toast, there is NO trunk pan. Oh, and where the heck is the nose? Other than that.....

    Hey Mark,
Still up in the air... I was PULLING the trunk pan out (yes-with my hands) to expose the tar paper over the fuel tank. I was hunting for the build sheet... I have to get rid of the other ones that have followed me home before I even think about talking with the owner... The interior, however, is very, VERY nice :Brow:
    Pretty scary sight, ehh? :jd

    George -

Before you don't say anything else, make sure the serial number on the Trans matches the VIN...

    Marco,
I know, I know... That's why I was ripping- make that SWEEPING- the trunk away to find the build sheet...I suspect it to be a regular GS 400. However, when I saw the BB code and we found the 3.64's...
If it turns out to be a Stage, you'll be the first person I email :TU:

    Alan,
Since I don't own the car, I will respect the current owner by not ripping the interior apart. I have a feeling that the car WILL be pulled out of there and end up in a garage, SOMEWHERE :Brow: .
BTW- nice, um, color on that Skylark :bglasses: Did you get my PM? Hope it made sense..

1 of 212? I'd have the chain saw out and cutting those trees away from that baby.

    Bluzman,
I have a solid base to start- frame is clean enough to eat off of. The floors are the nicest set of original floors I have seen on a car PERIOD. :Brow: The cowl is clean. The interior- although moldy- is complete and not torn up, just dirty. Doors are (surface) rusty and straight.
So, fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, front bumper, hood, engine, quarter skins, outer wheelhouses, trunk lid and trunk pan. And, of course, back bumper.
If I wanted to get divorced, I could probably buy it, and with the 2 buicks that are here now, have the thing on the road by July :jd:
The good (or bad) news is the car 'is not going anywhere' according to the owner. The trees will remain over grown on the car to keep it safe (IE: HIDDEN).
Side note: In the same area, the guy has 3 1967-1969 Camaro bodies- hardtops and a convertible-which he tried selling.....So at least he isn't biased about the brands of cars he's letting return to mother earth..
I will get back down there for more pics/ build sheet hunting as soon as I get the other 2 cars out of here.. :beer
