    Here's an option code sheet for '67. It was posted on the board in the past. Sorry I don't know who to credit for it.

    2L is 4 speed
    2F is short console
    5K is door edge guards

    Look thru your '67 Service Bulletin book...it might give you a decoder for the P-O-P. Here is the one for 66.
    '65 only used one letter for engine ID on the POP....so a 'LR' engine would be shown as 'R' followed by the 3-digit production code. Maybe '67 did it the same way?, and whoever stamped the plate picked up a 'B' instead of a 'R'?? That would explain it. See if you have a '409' stamped on your engine.

    The tranny production code should be stamped on the trans as well....see '67 Chassis book for location.
    Also look in your Service Bulletin book for the gear ratio chart....they might have trans code ID there too.

    Here's the '66 POP decoder:

    Nice find George. That pealized yellow interior must really pop with the black paint. Sorry I can't help with the POP...from the data plate, looks like a low optioned car ready for the dragstrip...:Brow:

    I am sure you already posted pics somewhere here before, I haven't been around for a while, where are they, or can you post some? Would love to see it.

    Cheers,

    George my car has posi. also. A non. posi 3.36 rearend will have LJ code 44600 series.
    A LN code is a posi. 2.78 for the Special and Skylarks series.
    I found the codes N 35 and LX with another X in a circle on mine. LX is posi. 3.36 for the 4600 series.
    Also the tranni#s match the POP as does the engine.

    x in a circle I was told is a code for a posi.
    The '66 4 speed car I bought from George had a 3.36 open rear.....and significantly less tread on the right rear tire.:pp

    Info I have posted is from a '68 Service Policies and Procedures for Buick Dealers - page 119, issued December '67. (RO/AFA Form Features) They show a breakdown for P-O-P plate info '65 - '68. (They also indicate that axle code is '68 only ?)

    . . . just trying to help you decipher your P-O-P ? :Do No: :TU:

    Well here`s the latest info of what this all means,

    B409 = Engine build date
    B = Feb.
    409 = 13th.
    GM engines I was told were built on a 2 yr cycle.
    B409 = Feb. 13, 1967

    HEP7D20 = Muncie April 20, 1967

    N = April

    Now if we could find out what the "LJ"code means we`d be in business.

    Thanks

  19. thepartsman

    thepartsman Back Ordered Again ?

    LJ is in the position 4 on the P-O-P tag
    Position 4 is the axle code.
    LJ = Std. axle 3.36 on 4600 series.

    N is in the 5 position on the tag.
    position 5 is the Month Built Code.
    1967 N = April.
