    1965 special 2 door post/coupe car
a while ago ordered and picked up ( live fairly close to legendary plus had to drop off daughter and family at Syracuse airport ) headliner , sail panels , carpet and rear shelf for the 65 special .
sail panels appear to match up fine , fingers crossed on the headliner , carpet should be ok , but the shelf panel is not shaped correctly on ends . mine is a little deeper and rounded and theirs is cut at about 90 degrees and not quite so deep . if the depth at least worked out I could cut theirs down . they are refunding me money but I still need a shelf panel . their catalog ( and OPG catalog also ) and phone call info listed skylark and GS coupe/post versions so i'm thinkin maybe that's what I got .
and so maybe there's a dif between special and skylark/GS shelf panels on the ends ? anybody have any history with this ?
i'll post a couple pics of my stuff and a rough template . the big cardboard has the outline of the part they sent .

Hi My 65 gs skylard rear cover was mesh The width of the cover was wider than the one you pictured here. It covered the whole top shelf, and tucked under the back seat top cushion.
    I had mine redone.

I can't remember if it was legendary or OPGI, 95% positive it was legendary as Thats where my panels are from, but when I got my rear tray for my 68 it was shaped totally different. It needed a little more curve to it and the one I got was straight. Wouldnt fit, without there being big gaps at the rear edges. I had to trim and reshape the center a couple times just to get it as close as,i could, still not perfect but it will do for now.

I don't know about your interior problem, but why is your family flying out of Syracuse? We have to have the worst airport in the country here. Half of Syracuse flies out of Rochester and Newark is pretty close to Rochester too. :)

personally I don't mind flying out of Albany , wife used Binghamton last time . but we have also used Scranton . we pretty much go with price and ease of getting there . Scranton has a nice little holiday inn almost right at airport with free long term parking if flying out . handy .

yeah and that's kinda why I was looking for a pic or two , to judge my distance from back of seat to window . I just did not think that the extra material on front of panel should show that much before meeting the seat . to me it seems like about an extra 2" would be about right ?

    bump for info .
and I looked through an older year one catalog - slightly different listing ? will have to double check that info .
maybe i'll contact OPG and year one and see if I can weasel a left or right end pic or two out of them .

well I did look closer at those two other catalogs , and I called legendary and went over the other two catalog options with rick .
the older year one catalog info was not a lot of help info wise , no pics . but they did have a handy vin# guide - #27 post/coupe - mine vin shows #27 also .
the 2016 OPG catalog does have pics . on the left side they show a 66-67 panel ( square sides and a little shallower - looked similar to what I got . on the right side of page is a 64-65 part number ( not the one I need , it has the speaker opening ) but the ends look a lot closer in shape and it looks deeper than the other . check part #1G15 pic .
I think part of the problem may be that legendary lists the models as "2 door coupe" and "2 door sport coupe" . so the sport coupe may be a non post hardtop ? OPG lists them as "coupe" and "2 door and 4 door sedan" ? I always refer to them as 2 door coupe ( post car , or 2 door sedan - same ) , 4 door sedan ( post ) or 2 and 4 door hardtops ( no post ) . but their coupe listing may mean "post" and "sport coupe" may mean "no post" ? I would have to see a pic of both the OPG 2 door coupe and 2 door sedan versions I guess . but I still can not fathom why GM would reshape the rear c pillar/window area .

did get a year one pic - looked very close I think . re-e-mailed rick at legendary with year one pic info .
and I made a better template , couple pics added .
edit : so the year one guy got back to me - said my pic looks correct compared to their part , but my 10-3/4" measurement looks more like 10" on his end . will have to dbl check that .
