I ordered the Intellitronix box. Should be here sometime next week. We'll see how that goes.

    Have you checked this?
The air gap between the pickup and reluctor should be between .018” - .030”.

No, but the MSD not firing when I short it seemed like the most probably culprit.

AND, remember to use a Brass feeler gauge & NOT metal.

Greg I know you're going a different route, but I think I have a couple spare MSD boxes in the shop if you wanted to do some swapping out ?
I run an old MSD 5(?) I think it was on my '71 using the points as a trigger... always fires!!

I actually have an MSD5200 that I ran years ago with a Mallory Unilite before I moved to the current system with the new engine. It was working when I pulled it. I'm considering putting it in the 350 car if the points start acting up.

I finally got the Intellitronix box installed. The green light lit when I turned power on. Then when I cranked it, the green light flickered as it was supposed to indicating it received signal. I moved all the wires up, out of the way and cranked it again with a few pumps on the carb. She fired, the tach worked and now I need to finish cleaning up the wiring harness. Then, I need to see if it is reliable with a road test.

The Intellitronix is smaller than the MSD-6AL and I guess I technically got the marine versin because it was $10 cheaper.

You gotta hide that blue box or paint it red or black! LOL

I'm torn between cutting the wires to fit properly and bundling them up and taping them off in case I do something different.

Don't cut them. Fold them ( the longer the better) use small zip ties and black electrical tape for a clean look.

That's what I was contemplating but I have the factory type convoluted wiring loom to cover it with. I think there's room in there.

I may sand off the logo to get some contrast to it.

Masked off the lettering and mounted the MSD on the firewall of the Wildcat. Unless you are looking for it ya dont really notice . Ended up doing the same for the coil and mounting it next to the box along with the required relays for the Sniper to work

Cool- I mounted my MSD box in the glove compartment. My GSX clone drag car was built to look as stock as possible sept for the narrowed rear (narrowed stock baffled gas tank as well) and the cage. Clean looking.

oh, you guys probably are thinking… in the glove compartment, why?
So I can change out between rpm limiter chips easily.
And it’s a nice clean install area where it’s out of sight
