I had a broken tab on one of my hard plastic under dash heater ducts. Other than this broken tab, the duct is in perfect condition. So, I decided to try a hack that I read about.

I have attached a few pics of my fix.

Heater Duct pre-fix: shows the broken off tab and the mold that I made to form a new piece (I inserted some wire to hold the new plastic filler)
Heater Duct pre-fix 1: another picture of the broken tab and mold/form.
Heater Duct post-fix: shows the newly molded plastic tab
Heater Duct pre-fix 1: another picture of the completed tab. I used a mixture of Baking Soda and Superglue to form the new tab and then just sanded off the form paper.

It came out great and is very strong. I was able to reassemble the duct work and am now continuing with my restoration.

Hoping someone else can use this information!

How long did it take to cure?

Brian, It sets up real quick, but I let it cure overnight before I started sanding it. I would pour in a bit of superglue, add the baking soda, stir it and then repeat the process until I filled the form.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Very cool! Never would have thought of that!

What's the ratio for superglue to baking soda?

And did you paint it black?

Walter, as far as a "ratio", I would pour in the superglue and then add enough baking soda to completely cover (absorb into) the amount of superglue. Probably worked out to 50/50.

72STAGE1, Yes, the mixture dried kinda opaque, so I matched the black color of the duct and sprayed it black.
