Just to let you guys know. I wired up my diode tonight and (after figuring out which way to solder the diode in) I got it to work.

Once I permenantly hook everything up I will post some pictures for you guys so you can see what I did. Right now everyconnection is just stuck together or should I say "Rigged Up" just so I could try different routes. But now that I have it all working I will do it all permenantly.

Thanks for all the help, I really needed it.

Thanks, Thats what I thought about the strand count. I was planning on the short neg cable from battery to frame and frame to engine. I'll also put a good ground from engine to firewall.

Well I finally got the pictures taken of my little wiring nightmare.
The brown wire off the alternator has the diode spliced into it. I got the diode from a guy who rebuilds alternators and starters for me. It has a big end and a little end to it. I took a few shots to try to show how its in there.

the batteries positive cable is the one closest to the switch (the one on the right).
I used a pvc gromet as my protection going through the trunk floor pan.
    Seems to work great.

I could be wrong :puzzled: but I think if you were to try and run at a NHRA track you would not be allowed
If I remember correctly the cut of switch must be hooked to the GROUND (-)wire, and the battery must be in an APPROVED battery box ( unless trunck is sealed correctly as per the rule book ) as well the battery must be mounted with 3/8 bolts through the frame not the trunk floor. Not trying to put down a good looking installation I would just hate to see you get to a NHRA track and have them send you home. At the tracks I race your set up would never pass  sorry
