    Hi all

A 71 GSX that I have been trying to buy just sold at the Leake auction for $33,000 before any fees.

This is the survivor 71 GSX that has been making the rounds lately. I tried to buy it last year from the guy in Minnesota who paid around $48K. He was selling it through a broker, whom I seemed to annoy, as I was talking directly with the owner. So the broker calls me and tells me that no matter how much money I have, I can never buy that car. Geez, I should have gone to the auction,as I could have bought it for less than I was offering last year.

The other car that sold at auction was a 70 GS convertible. This was a frame-off restoration and finished in stick-around-brown that went for $49,000 before fees.

    Cheers

Was the GSX the Cortez Gold car being discussed in the Ebay section?

Wow that seems like a steal at 36k (I'm assuming 10% commission). I love them in that color. That or the Lime Mist cars are my favorites.

I had a look at it yesterday, not sure when it sold. The paint seemed really good for being original and the interior as well....350 automatic. Nice 70 non stage auto GSX there as well.

It is less than what it sold for a few years back when it was in Maine. When the guy in Minnesota was selling it last year, his broker told me they wanted $65K for the car. I tried to explain to him that it was not worth that much and that there was no money left to be made on that car and his client had overpaid at $48K.

I had made a fair offer, but they were holding firm on $65K. The broker told me they had offers in the mid-fifties, to which I replied they should accept them. This was bogus, as I am quite sure the car got flipped to another dealer in Minnesota, as it was for sale again at $47-48K.

    Hi Gord

I really wanted that car, but it just never worked out for me.

As for the 70 GSX at Leake, it has the wrong fan shroud and master cylinder. But that being said, aside from those two items I mentioned, it looks exactly like mine. I can't vouch for the underside and I don't know if it is numbers matching.

    Cheers

Wasn’t there a survivor GSX selling in Connecticut in that color also a 350 car? This car?
I seem to remember one but not sure how far back it was.

We've all kicked ourselves over deals like that, very frustrating!! Is the buyer on V8Buick??

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

I would have strongly considered the car for $36K. I really liked that car and I have seen it change hands a lot over the years

Randy, I think you have a way nicer car in your garage than the 71 x in my opinion. Gordon

    Hi Gord

I agree 100%. But you know how it is when you get a little chub for something, even though it defies logic.

I hear you Randy. There’s a car on eBay right now (not a Buick) that I would love to own but I don’t have the storage space and don’t need to spend the money. But I want it real bad.

    Hi Brian

If your 71 GS is the one I think it is, I really wanted that one as well. But like you, I don't have the space.

    Cheers
