Congratulations to Dave Tumas on winning the Larry Miller Award Larry Miller was a loved member of the Carolina Chapter. Dave being friends with Larry and Karen Miller makes this a very special award that hits close to home in more ways than one.
Congratulations Dave!!! This is well deserved!! And thanks again for helping judge the Concours cars!
I found this on the internet. Congratulations Dave. What is the Larry Miller Award? Larry was the founding father and driving force of the GS Nationals Car Show. He with the Carolina chapter designed and managed the layout, setup, and registration of the car show. He maintained the statistics to alter the setup as needed. Larry restored his cars himself in a shop at his house in North Carolina. Larry also drove his cars to the event. Larry epitomized everything show. The "Larry Miller" award is given to the car that best represent the values of the die-hard Buick show enthusiast that Larry himself represented.
In reading what Duane posted about the Award, couldn't go to a better Buick die-hard person. Awesome award - Congratulations
I believe it should say : "The "Larry Miller" award is given to the car owner that best represents the values of the die-hard Buick show enthusiast that Larry himself represented. I think the award is meant to pay tribute to the owner of a Buick GS. Its about the owners character and values not just about the car itself.
Larry was one of the finest Buick owners I have ever met and would give you the shirt off of his back. So glad to hear his name carries on here, thank you Karen for continuing to carry the torch as you always did with Larry & congratulations to Dave for winning this very prestigious and well deserved award.
Thank you ALL for the kind words. Larry was very special and I always looked forward to seeing him and Karen at the chapter events. Never thought I was able to live up to the legacy he left behind. Just a quick story about Larry. After attending one of the GS nationals while driving home my front wheel bearing failed. Somewhere in the middle of Tennessee on a Sunday afternoon. We found a service station to make the repairs. Larry offered to take his yellow GSX off the trailer and get my car back home if needed. The repair worked and I drove all the way home. I never forgot that kind gesture.
