If you are looking to verify it is actually a Stage 1 you will need to find the codes on the block, it should be "RS" and your Vin should match the numbers stamped on the block and on the 4 speed case. The carb. was also Stage 1 specific along with the distributor.

You are correct, there were only 77 4-speed Stage 1 GS's built in 1969. All of them built in the Flint Michigan plant designated by an "H" in your VIN.

thanks ! Mike, I have checked the Vin# it has the H it has the RS stamped on the block . With age I thank a few than have been upgraded new carb. . I'll have to check the distributor. I don't know for sure or where to check but been told only 1 of the 77 built that year was cameo cream paint code 40. Mike, great 68! had one in 69.

Currently there is no way to verify that only 1 of the 77 were painted cameo cream that year. There were 21 available standard colors that year but it is possible.

There were a few things done during the restoration that were questionable... What issues did you find?
