Know of them; but don't remember if I heard good or bad. Can anyone enlighten me or steer me to a Buick friendly place nearby, I'll drive if I have to. Only want to do this once. Oh well, maybe twice if I feel I can gain anything from headers after awhile. :)

They came up on Dynomax site as vendor.

Just looking to do from existing ported manifolds - headpipes to x pipe to intermediate pipes to Ultra Flo mufflers to Buick turn down tip style tail pipes in a mandrel bent 2 1/2" system with welds for now to replace the 2 1/4 custom job that was installed in 86 and is out of alignment knocking on floor board and transmission on hard acceleration as well as pretty rusted.

I have not heard anything bad about kooks. My friend has a shop down the street from them and he tells me they do a pretty good job. I remember I got a price quote from them once to put an o2 bung in a set of headers and remember it was a pretty good price.

I know somebody will probably recommend Americam muffler, and I don't have much to say about them. They originally did the exhaust in my GTO and it was a pretty good job, however when one of the welds split the repair was just ok (weld kinda sloppy). I came to find out that the guy who did my exhaust for AM the first time left and opend his own shop called "the muffler man" out in suffolk somewhere. I have heard good things about him so far. I don't think AM's quality is there anymore.

I have heard they are very good. Two friends on this board(John Csordas and Doug Hecker) have them on their race cars and are pleased with their performance.

If I had a race car,I would not hesitate to have Kook's build me a set of headers. They are some of the best header's around.:TU:

I know they do a lot of high end custom race headers. Billy Glidon has used them. Have you considered contacting Rob Chilenski of Stage 1 Automotive. I don't how far that is from you, but he is a Buick guy.

    Good luck

Forget about american muffler....I had them install my headers and pipes (TA Jet-hott coated headers and GSCA Club 2.5" mandrel system). They welded all the pipes together after I asked them to use the clamps....."Threw out the clamps" and hangers.....AND 4 years later when I removed the motor I saw all the spots they dinged and dented on the header pipes :Dou:

....and the "installer" who did the work, came up to me one night and said "Hey !!! I did the exhaust work on your car.....really took my time and did a super job" :spank: :spank:

I dont know how far you are from me (East Northport) but my local mechanic rents out one of his bays to an old-school pipes guy who does only custom work. Usually works Sat. on appt only. Dont think he's too expensive.....I'll find out or get you contact info if you want

I think that will be my choice.

Heck if I can drive out to SLP facility in Tom's River, NJ for work done in past on my 96Z, the least I could do is same for the Riv. :D

Kooks are the best,(not cheap though!) I steered Dougster there after Kook sr. custom fabed my car turbo buick motor in my Olds Calais, trust me, that was no easy job (almost 3 mths)
