    Hi all,

Recently installed shift kit in my TH-350. Since I have had this car (69 GS) the kickdown has been inop. The cable holdown on tranny was missing bolt. Anyway, I replaced when I put in shift kit. When I tried to adjust cable from inside it won't move. When I depress gas pedal the cable won't pull with it. Can these cables get hung up somehow? I made sure the mechanism in the tranny worked before I buttoned it up but the clamp was not fastened down so the whole cable moved.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Did you check the cable, before you connected it to the trans?

I know its impossible to press the speeder and look down under the car at the same time, but try to disconnect the cable, and pull it up in the enginebay, and see if it moves. If it does, clerly, it must have been assembled wrong with thetrans. (it's quite a pain in the ass to connect it I clearly remember)..

    Just my 2 cents.

    Good luck

Thanks for responding....no I didn't really check it. The mechanism worked in the trans. but as I said the cable was not clamped to the tranny so the whole cable/shield was moving. I should have thought to clap it down first. I don't want to go back and remove the pan and all that hassle. maybe I can diconnect it from the other end and check it out.

Quite a pain indeed! This happened to me, too, I just used an old detent cable, cut it off 3" up, plugged it, and bolted it in place. maybe next spring I'll get a tranny shop to install the replacement I have. I've done it by the book, so to speak, but being upside down and bot being able to see what I'm doing must be causing me to botch the procedure, cause I've tried three times, and each time, it will down shift once....and not upshift anymore. Buicks make lots of torque, I can live without the kickdown for a little while.
