I was wondering how my air cleaner(pic in sig) would look if I painted it black and now I think its a go. I have never seen one of these but it looks like a cool piece to own. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KENN...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
That air cleaner has the Maggot written all over it...I'd love to have that on my car,but feel the price will be insane...
I think, but don't quote me, that Guy Parquette has one on his GSX paint-scheme race car. At least something that looks very similar. Maybe shoot him a PM and see if he's interested in selling it? I know he's planning on going the Stage 2 scoop route before the racing season here starts up again.
That look a lot like the old Poston set up I sold without the spoiler. Maybe Poston bought this form KB? I like the chrome or polished look
I have the Poston version with the GSX style spoiler. Heavy car went a best of 10.50s at 128 with it with a flat hood...so the system does work.
Now I am obsessed with having one of these. Guess I'll throw some ram air air cleaners, hood scoops etc up on the bay and look for one if I miss this setup...Got this urge to ditch my draglite wheels and get a set of the old looking centerlines and start making the Maggot look like it was done in the 70's now..
I bought one of those too. I got it on E-bay for $60. Everytime I look at those flex tubes, all I can think about is: "Danger Will Robinson, Danger!".
Now you're dating yourself. I'd bet 60 percent of the guys on here have no clue what that reference is from.
I'd bet higher than that . . . I'm so YOUNG that if I didn't hear that reference before, I'd have no idea what you're talking about!
It is a classic for sure. For you youngsters, it was an old sci-fi show that had robot character that pretty much looked like the coin operated vacuum cleaner at the car wash.
BTW, back in the 90's, I made my own ram air kit for my '71 Skylark 400. I was low on funds and high on time, so wrapped some cardboard around my open 14" air cleaner, using duct tape. I attached some dryer exhaust hose to it (similar to the ducts on these kits) and ran them to the underside of the bumper, using plastic square things (again for dryers). Anyway, it looked crude, but worked pretty well in the upper RPMs. It sounded way cool too! But, the low RPMs sucked because there wasn't enough air available when I first romped on the throttle. Should have taken a picture, I guess.
$327 bucks is too rich for my blood...Would have looked great on the Maggot though, but for that price,I'll use the K&N open element filter I currently have on it..
Man I miss that show!!! As far as the dating thing I can't date anymore...I'm married... Scott
Dude make one of these . There are several suppliers of the dual snorkle type breathers. someone had a original off a Toronodo on her that would have been a perfect starting place for a race set up
I waskinda digging the Kenne Bell part though.Wonder where I could get the scoop pieces that go under the bumper that would fit on the flex hose? Know of any suppliers of the hose that make black? Guess I should have bought one of those Poston front GSX spoilers that had the holes. That would have solved many issues.
