Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all,
I picked up a set of used Kenne-Bell 1.6 Roller Rockers but the guy I got them from didn't have the installtion instructions. Can anyone help me out? I'd sure like to use them.
Also, does anyone make a repair sleeve for 455 harmonic balancers?

Roller Rocker Installation & Adjustment Instructions

NOTE: On V6 and 350 Models it may be necessary to clearance the sides of the rocker shaft towers to allow adequate clearance with the rocker arms. To do so, grind the sides of the towers so that rockers fit with out hitting or rubbing.

With Hydraulic Lifters, rotate engine until lifter is on the cam base circle, (valves completely closed) for that cylinder. Extend adjuster screw until zero lash is obtained, but with lifter unloaded. Then rotate adjuster screw to 1 turns to properly obtain lifter preload. Preload should equal .030 to .060. One full turn of the adjuster screw is equal to approximately .050.
With Solid Lifters, rotate engine until the exhaust valve just begins to open to adjust the intake valve for that cylinder, then insert feeler gage for the right amount of lash recommended for the camshaft between the roller tip and the tip of the valve. Turn adjuster screw as necessary to remove excess lash, then tighten lock nut and remove feeler gage. Now check again with feeler gage, gage should be able to be inserted snugly, if gage can be inserted easily or not at all, then adjust as necessary until they just fit between the roller tip and tip of the valve. To adjust the exhaust valve, rotate engine so that the intake valve has fully opened and is just beginning to close, then follow the same procedures for the intake valve.
If you are unable to obtain proper lifter preload or lash while adhering to the guidelines shown below then you will have to compensate by switching to a shorter or longer pushrod as needed. TA Performance stocks 5/16 thick walled chrome-moly pushrods in .050 increments, for this reason.

I am not sure what you meanby"repair sleeve", but I would not use that balancer at all if there is any question about it.I would buy a new stock one from T/A and be done with it. I don't really trust those "rebuilt" balancers either. I had a balancer come apart ona SBC and it was quite a disaster! Don't take any chances, replace it! Brian :Smarty:

    Thanks for the replies.
Gold72GS- the repair sleeve I'm talking about slides over the shaft end of the balancer to provide a new surface for the seal to ride against. These are inexpensive "fixes" if you have an otherwise good balancer that gets a pit or nick along the sealing surface. I've used ones with excellent results on several other engines but not a Buick yet.

You're talking about a "speedy-sleeve"... You should be able to get one that would work for you from say Grainger, McMaster Carr or MSC. Do a google search on the above and see what you get.
