SOme info here guys and gals. The engine I recently installed in my 65 gs with a 455 is running a KB coolrunner intake, We cut the carb flange about 4 degrees so the carb would be more level, the original coolrunner would have the front of the carb angled up. I understand the new SPX has this same feature. ANyway, there are no hood clearance issues with this intake on the 65 gs , I have a 3 inch open element with a drop base air cleaner on the 1000 demon carb, I think I have room for a 4 inch filter with this air cleaner. This intake is about 1/2 lower than the TA sp1. Just thought you'd like to know. Jim Burek P.A.E ENTERPRISES
No it doesn't Reynold. I had to do this same thing last year so my Prochargers Carb Hat would clear the stock GS hood. I didn't have to redrill the holes, and the carb still bolts up nicely.
okay now that makes me wonder i have a 455 in my 65 skylark, i have a eldebrock intake with a 1" spacer and a down drop aircleaner and i can only use a 2 1/4" air filter. does yours have a hood scoop? what can i do to make this fit:3gears:
