Well, if anyone cares (lol), here's an update on the progress of my 71 Riv. Here goes:

    Nothing
The battery is now dead (it's about 7 years old). The intake gasket is STILL blown and loves to spit oil and coolant at me. Soon, hopefully, I'll rip it apart, rebuild the 455 and throw those 70 heads on there. I still need to save up some cash for a new cam and headers. I'm guessing about $1000 from now, I'll have the big block running to my standards. As soon as that happens, I'll need new tires... you know... 'cause they'll be burnt! HA!

Just out of the military and into my second semester of college... It has tended to inflict a significant dent in my Riv' funds... not to mention I now have no time. Eh... that's life, right? haha....

    Welcome to MY world.

    But...

For the last 2 weeks I have STARTED working on my Riv at 10PM each night. I work until about midnight then hit the rack. 5 1/2 hours of sleep a night are killing me, but I've been able to:

completely gut the interior, peel the seat skins off and send out to be duplicated
    remove the dash pad
    remove the windshield
    remove the steering column
    disassemble the dashboard
paint the column, dash and dash pad
    reinstall the windshield
    reinstall all dashboard components

You can do it, you just have to be motivated enough to want to be tired and cold.

I should have the package shelf out and painted and reinstalled by Sunday. I still need to squirt the console too.

My point is, we can all find the time, but it probably won't be when it is most convenient.

Hey Yards, I can't actually find the time! You see, my car is in storage.... 160 miles from where I am! I've got a posi to put in, A trans filter to change, plugs, and oil to change. And I have all the time in the world, but not with my car!

Time and Cash ---- ahh the multitude of problems they could solve. Was out cruising in the Buick today... thinking.... there are moments in life that suck... and this is NOT one of them....

I hope you guys can get your awesome rides back on the road soon...

Awesome, Chris! I wish I had my Riv in Columbia. Unfortunately, it's way up in Memphis, MO, just northeast of Kirksville. Once I get it running, I'll bring it down for a few trips to CoMo.

Sounds like me, except mine is across the ocean and about 3,000 miles from my house sitting in my friends storage facility. I think it's going on 15 years now! But I'm not in a rush, so it can wait a few more years and then some if need be. :)
