I was out driving my girlfriend to work in my parents 1999 Chev Venture Van last night with the 3.4 V6. The 67 Skylark was at home tucked away for the night in the Garage. We are nearing her work on the big 4 lane road that is near it when this punk kid who works with her at the pharmacy pulls up beside us in his late 70's caddie with his girl friend. This guy has tried to fight me a bunch of times and is a big trouble maker. Not to mention he has been itching to race the 67. But tonight, we are sitting at a red side by side with his pride and joy ugly as sin caddie and my soccer mom van. We both looked at eachother and then he stares straight ahead, readying for the green. I just laughed to my girlfriend and mentioned how hilarious it would be if I could beat him in the van. I give it a couple thousand with the brake down as it approaches a green. When we see the green I can hear him punch it, and my van sounds like its not even running in comparisson. Next thing I know, I'm 3 cars ahead, then 4 and as im reaching 5 we are getting into a heavily populated busy area and going 80 in a 40. I slam on the brakes and he just blows by me. My girlfriend says he didnt say a word all night.:3gears: :bla:
I thought mufflers added 100 horses to any car and makes them as fast as a Corvette? Or is that just the rice crowd... :idea2:

Ya you'd think he'd drive a ricer huh. I'm sure he has a thing for my girl. I'm quite fortunate and have a great looking girl. This guy however wouldn't stand a chance in her class and theres nothing pretty about him. I think it was a little closer to 180 horsepower and 4900 pounds or so of weight for him and my van weighs around 3900 pounds and makes about 180 horse as well. If the math is done, I shouldn't have even considered the guy had a chance.:beers2:
Some people just need to continually fly under the radar. But some of them never learn that either. Good kill. I had a 77 Grand Prix with the 301 and it was the slowest car I'd ever owned, slower than my 235 six in my 61 Chevy Biscayne with the powerglide. I could not even challenge the 4 cyinder mid 80's mustangs. Mikey
You probably had a gearing advantage, also. You probably have an automatic overdrive transmissionwith decent gears ; his at best was a standard automatic and hiway gears. Still good kill! Unfortunately, not in a BUICK.
