pics A and B ( before ) - pics C and D ( after ) . yep - same carb , picked it up saturday at 'da valley . told him to go through it plus "pretty it up" for me too . it'll be awhile before i can put it to good use but - all reports both written n verbal have been positive on the way these run . just thought anyone needin a q-jet done would like a couple pics . del
ken has an "ad" upstairs in the vendor section also . met him and wife and two kids with a couple friends/customers saturday . jays stockish 455 gs was runnin real consistant in the am heat - 13.8's and 13.9's , and that was his first time racin' too . everyday performance q-jet equipped of course .
Ken does a nice job that for sure. And they run as good as they look! Del- Are those Snap On screwdrivers in the background?
> jason - yep , snap on . got 'em free ! when i was a mopar parts mgr they used to have a yearly promo/prize for getting your 5-star training etc done . i think it was one of those deals . > steve - check up in kens ad in the vendor section , you can contact him and ask . i think it's eastwood ?
I got mine back from Ken a couple months ago. Ken shure makes them look great. I still haven't mounted it, but maybe in the next couple weeks.
Your carb looked exactly like mine does now and it appears you had what I want done, also. Nothing extreme, just a clean up and all the goods that come with it. Could you give me a price on what he charged you? I have a certain budget I'd like to stick to and a lot of people have told me about Ken and Everyday Performance. Thanks in advance Jeff
you'd be better off contacting him for pricing . my $$ may be a little lower because the carb i dropped off to him had already been mod'd a little and he said it looked like decent work previously so that was a couple steps he did not have to do . plus your combo may need extras , my motor for now is pretty stock with just a couple basic mods . i can't remember but he may have a price guide at his website ? try upstairs in the vendor section . he also did some internal work on mine - not just clean up n adjustments i believe .
Yes I do use eastwood Carb renew II on the body and air horn The second revision of their stuff covers better than the 1st and it holds up against gas better too. Nothing beats the look and durability of a replating job though. Naturally the advantage of the Eastwood is the cost. PS thanks everyone for the positive feedback.
That carb looks great! :TU: Is there a secret to keep it looking that good? Maybe, clearcoat? Or, would clearcoat be a no-no for a carb?
I wouldnt clearcoat it. the clearcoat wont be as gas resistant as the eastwood. Dont wipe it when it is wet. let the gas evaporate then wipe it clean once its dried. The coating is very resistant to sagging and dripping, and will retain its color well as long as you dont smudge it up when its wet with gas. Let it dry.
