Man!!! Sometimes you just can't win. My seats have been recovered. I wanted to use the rear seat retractable style deluxe belts my car came with, and had the complete set ready to go. I knew the 69 rear seat I bought was different due to the fuel vapour separator behind the seat, but one thing I didn't count on was that the 69 is not notched for the retractable belts!!! So yup it won't fit. Took it back out, undid the corners, trimmed the top edge away so the belt guide would come out between cushions, reinforced the section wth the GM rod clamps (taken off old seat frames) nd re-did the corners. Its strong and looks fine, but the back edge of the seat still hits the harness reels and the seat won't go deep enough to latch. So now I'm screwed. I need two (non retractable) male deluxe seat belts to replace the retractables with, or I need to find a 71-72 vert rear seat and transfer everything over, or worst case scenario will just have two sets of belts in the rear and two sets in the front (ie eliminate the middle position both seats will give me two male buckles needed) until I can find what I need. Just a heads up in case anyone is replacing seat frames etc (they do rot and break and I see lots that are needed). Its times like these after a 6 hour thrash, bleeding and fingers hurt that I wonder why I do this?? Can't believe we missed that with all the test fitting. ou: The seats do look awesome though.
This is what I need, 43.5" inches center of bolt hole to hole in tang (roughly, hardly anyone ever sits in back seat in my cars anyway). Need 2. Deluxe belts have the small buckle with teh blue insert but all I need are the male belts. Pic attached. Or a 72 rear seat!! Or a labotomy...!! later Tim
Is it kinda pita to unbolt the belt to have it replaced ? I'm looking to replace the "female" section (front driver bucket) if I can find one in a local yard this week end
Here's a pic of Deluxe Belts. I believe belts with the interior color or black on the latch are Standard Belts.
