oh on a side note, when i talked to the guy on the phone i asked him (is this tranny gonna handle the power or not) >>>him knowing I'm into chevys, i did not mention anything about buicks, his answer was I'll stand behind this tranny to the 455 buick, i said it'll take the abuse of line-lock, to the track and back, he said yes sir

    sounds good to me :TU:

The trans looks nice and shiny in the pix. From the reading I've done the valve body has a very big effect on the way the unit shifts. He even notes in his description that if you need a brf you need to send yours in to be overhauled.

You might try the trans section on TB.com for additional info on the 200 4R.

don't do it man, the overdrive autos suck. Had one.. hated it. keep the turbo 350 and change your rear gear if it revs too much.

After a few miles check the fluid to see if its burnt smelling. if it is, take out the trans and put the t-350 back in.

    imho of course..

    Good luck with it.

I have a few quick questions about this.

Will a 200 4R hold 650 hp and maybe another 100 thrown on top from nos?

what exactly does a TV cable do?

and what is needed on top of the transmission and TC to make the tranny work in the place of a 400?

    Thanks

It controls line pressure and shift points. It combines the functionality of the modulator and the downshift detent on the older three speeds.

You need to have a properly adjusted TV cable for a 200-4R to work properly.

I am hoping to do this swap into my GS so I am very interested in your project and any pitfalls you encounter that I can avoid.

Keep us posted on the progress.

I know there are guys running the 2004Rs and loving them. Properly built, like Nick says, increases the overall rating of those things. I know two guys running them in 600 plus HP big ass cars, 4K in weight and loving every minute of it. Provided you pay the price, get the best guts...it should work. And you gotta love the "overdrive".

well i figured id give you guys an update, for the past 2+months, I been going through a battle to get my $860 back the i forked out for the tranny, so far i contacted ebay and reported them , also reported them to government with an ic3 form, and the credit card co. as well, seems as though the buisness took a turn south just after i ordered my tranny and charged the card. I NEVER RECIEVED MY TRANSMISSION. I could probably spout off so many BAD words, but ill just say them out loud and keep it NO-Profanity on the board. If i ever do get my money back (WHICH I BETTER, OR I MIGHT MAKE A SPECIAL TRIP TO FLORIDA) I will be (MY-SELF) building a 200-4r, which i alread have a EDGE converter for.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with this "business owner." Its very important to have the TV cable adjusted right or you can burn one of these up pretty quick which is probably what Buickgsman did. Don't worry its not hard to adjust and not difficult to get right. Its just something you have to be on top of after intstall.

Personally if you have primarily a track car that you keep slicks on and normally trailer to a race stick with the th400. If you are interested in performance AND mileage than this with a functioning lock up switch is the swiss nipple. People think fuel injection is going to get them mileage but what they really need is OD & a lock up converter. My reasonably cammed 509ci Q-jet carbed car with 3.42s on 28" tall tires got 17mpg on a trip that averaged about 75mph. At the time with fuel, full spare, and me, it weighed 3840lbs and ran 12.6@109.6. So far its made almost 9,000 trouble free miles. I will never go back to a three speed in a street car.

A good shift kit is mandatory and so is a good transmission cooler. I also added an inexpensive tranny temp guage which is good cheap insurance for a street strip tranny that you have $1000+ in. If your car is over 4,000 lbs, makes well over 500 TQ, and will hook with slicks or drag radials then you should opt for the billet drum. Thats my 2 cents enjoy.

Glad to here you got your money back!!
Do not let this keep you from putting this trans in your car.
Mine is in the car now and finishing all the plumming to get her running.
Hope to tune by Xmas!! Waiting for 3in exhaust comming from TAPerformance.
The trans you see here was on my tired 350 before refreshing to this stroker
of 635HP on the Dyno!! :TU:
