If I got my hands on a star wars air cleaner......could I put that in my 70 Skylark? They look so d!!! good. Ben
you should be, if you can also get the base plate for it too. I'm pretty sure they origionally came on the q-jet (the '67 GS 400 had a q-jet, didnt it?) which has a 5 and 1/8 inch hole for the air cleaner, and just about every 4 barrel carburator uses that size as well. Good luck finding one though, they're getting more rare and more expensive all the time.
Thats what I wasn't sure about. I know the q-jet was around in '67 but I'm not sure if Buick used it.
The 67 GS had a Q-jet, ergo the Star Wars will work for you (as long as your Skylark isn't a 2 bbl!!!)
Nice use of "ergo" ... You shouldn't have a problem as long as the hood clears it should fit on your carb.
No, no....I have a 4bbl carb (q-jet), but that was one of my concerns.....if I would have enough hood clearance. I would hate to spend 3, 4 or 500 on an air cleaner and not be able to use it!! I guess I could always turn around and sell it again if it doesn't fit. Thanks for all the replys and input. I wonder why I've never seen it done before..... o No: Ben
I really can't see hood clearance being a problem... Go for it, and keep your flak jacket on when you meet '67 owners who need one!!!
"Pulls out shotgun and starts cleaning it..." What's this about a Star Wars air cleaner on a non '67 GS? :spank: :moonu: LOL Good luck on your hunt! oh and you didn't hear it from me, but I heard through the grapevine that someone is going to post a nice one on ebay in the coming weeks... I'm .. er... I mean HE is still repainting it last I heard.. yea that's it p
