So what do you guys think? If you had a GN parked next to your GS, it has been under your nose the whole time. OK, I will tell you how to do this. First thing you do is get a set of GN pullies, the bolt pattern is the same. You start to line up everything acording to the bottom pully. Second thing you need is a long neck water pump, your going to put the pully on and see that it is a quarter inch off, so what you do is cut the plate off the clutch fan assembly that will align everything. Third step is to get a complete GN bracket assembly with the AC and power steering pump, you need to shim the back of the large bracket to line up the rest of the assembly. I had to fabricate some PS hoses and I am in the process of making the AC lines. This system drops off 80lbs and can still have AC and PS. One thing I forgot to tell you guys is the belt size, which is the same as a 1987 GN. This car was on the Hot Rod Power Tour and got 20 mpg and goes 12s on street tires. I also have a '87 2004R trans with a stock stall 2000 RPM. 2005 it will be fuel injected, so it sould be a GSGNX. If you have any questions feel free to Email me. Have fun Ross :3gears:

Hi Ross, that is very nice. Where is the PS pump, I see the reservoir? Also, what is the cooling fan setup you are using?

    Thanks, Jeff

    Belt set up

The PS pump is in the same location as the GN , at the bottom of the assembly. The fan set up is from ram chargers, the fan is a dual fan replacement for the 87 GN also . It works great it never gets above 165 degress. It cost about $145.00 they had a sale for $79.90 it might be on sale again soon.

Good Job Ross. I like the idea, but wonder why you get such great gas mileage? What kind of carb are you running?

    Mileage

I have a 850 DP with 74 jets up front and a 6.5 power valve also,in the back I have 81 jets and no power valve. The cam is a populare mechanics cam installed Plus 4.The rear is a 330 12 bolt, but the main thing that helps the mileage is the lock up switch for the trans. With this cam it doesn't slug the motor down at all at low rpm's. It drives like a cady on the freeway. It still has gobs of torque in the city and never over heats. When your heavy on the gas you see the gas mileage disapear, you know how hard that is to stay out of it. :3gears:

I will be installing my fast fuel injection system on this car , and a handeling package also_One thing you guys should look at there is lots of room on the left side of the engine for a ATI charger :Brow: . So if you need a pully made you now what to use , like a GN pully. The wheight of the original AC is almost the same as a charger. That meens that you can still have AC and not add any weight onto your car and have more streetable performance, with this set up. My goal is to make a very easy bolt on power adder and still have every option still work. :bglasses:

It has been done before. Its slightly easier on a 350. Biggest problem, which you've noted well, is the AC on the "wrong" side of the car. Late-style compressor and accompanying weight savings is an advantage though.

Reverse rotation P-1SC or D-1SC fits great on the passenger side also. Makes it easier to bend the tubing up for an intercooler and puts the air intake away from the exhaust. XS Performance originally developed their supercharger kit to use this style of system. However, cost was too much of an issue and the system was developed to use all of the stock accessories and pulleys instead.

Good Luck on your project, it sounds really cool.

    Buick 300?

If the brackets are the same as a 350 it would probably work. Im not sure if the stock water pump is in line with the main pully. It dosen't hurt to try, thats what Hot Roding is.

The brackets are the same but the water pump on a 350 is not in the same location as a 455 is offset 1.5 inches.

    350 engine

Go to your local part stor and see if the 87 Gn pump is longer than the 350 pump.I think they use the same timing covers.

Yes you can, you need the AC delete pully from ANS performance. It would work alot better, so you can see the timing alot easier.
