Junior League victory, but 3x in one night

Drove home last night with the top down. It was a nice night, I had this big James Bond movie ad poster, framed, sitting on the back seat floor. Could not have helped my aerodynamics:grin:

I'm on a secondary road, a 4 lane (2 each way), when a dark blue or green Galant passes me like we're at Indy...then hangs off my fender in the passing lane for a bit, popping gears. I got sick of it and finally checked out the car. Mid '90s, huge resonator tip, and "VR-4" on the trunk lid. Now, i know somebody who has a real VR-4 Galant and while it is a pretty rare car, it's not a dog. I don't know if this one's real or not, heck, I could buy the emblem myself.

In any case, I floor it at about 50 mph, and pass the Mitsu. As my car accelerates, it sounds like a field full of stockers at Philly Plains, thanks to my new exhaust:) and the VR-Snore floors it too, shifting hither and thither. Ah, but I'm ALWAYS in my power band! The VR-4 falls behind quickly.

I stop accelerating, because 1) I already won after two or three car lengths, and 2) we're not at the dragway, plus a turn is coming up.

The VR-4 tries to pass me! Right after the curve, the road straightens out, as it leads to the highway access road. The access road is raised up from the highway, and you get a great view of the highway as you near it. Nobody's out there. The VR-4 pulls even with me. Now we're at about 65 mph. I let him get a fender on me, then floor it. Same result, the Mitsu gets to see my tailpipes. I stay on it for a little bit, to press home the point. Now, getting beat twice in 20 minutes by the same old car must make him mad, because 5 minutes later, as I'm tooling along, here comes the dark colored Mitsu with the awful coffee can exhaust, trying to race again!

I won't say how fast, but it was fatster than I've gone in a good long time. The Mitsu lost again, and quickly, this time I let him pass me at a good clip, and then caught and passed him AGAIN.

    3 times, 3 different speeds, 3 losses.

I'm sure that today, some Mitsu turbo board has a thread about this from his point of view claiming he won three times in a row by passing me after I got off the loud pedal, called, "I smacked down a Chevelle SS three times last night"

Probably was a non-VR-4 with a re-badge. I mean, heck my car's not a real GS455:laugh: But I got the goods under the hood enough to back up the emblems at least!

I like Galant VR-4's, and even though they aren't really a slouch, they can't touch a 13 second or faster car (if they are stock). No junior league kill, a kill is a kill.

Few people even know about the Galant VR-4. Even the Mitsu guys don't know a lot about them or how to make them fast. I'd like to have one myself. It's still a good kill. You really got under his skin too.
