    Folks:

I jumped in for a set of the new 70 lens being reproduced by Alan Faircloth. He still has commitments for only about 20 sets which is a poor showing of demand. Guys like Alan are not going to continue to risk their capital if they cannot get them sold. So if you think that you might be interested in the future please contact Alan. You can undestand how this experience might leave him with the feeling that the much talked about demand for grilles and overflow tanks becomes illusory when it comes time to pay up.

Daves69 Too many cars too work on

If I owned a 70 I would have already ordered a pair, bot they won' fit my 69. The quality is excellent on the lenses and very hard to tell from O.E.M.

How are you doing Dave. Still have to get you one of my grilles. If not before are you going to the spring Charlotte show?

    Hi Al

Just wondering, will you be at the GS Nationals this year? I have a set of NOS lens, but by the time the Nats roll around, I will definitely have enough scratch to buy a set of your repos. I looked for you last year, but came up empty.

Thanks for all the effort. Have any of the larger resto companies like Year One, Poston, CARS or OPG shown any interest in carrying them? Just curious.

    Lenses

    Todd,

Until I see what happens with the 70 lenses, no more lenses are being done. I can't make lenses for orders of 25 to 50. On the 71 and 72 lenses its even worse because Left and Right are each different. On the 70, they are the same. I am making the side markers though, because they work on all three years. Hopefully, these will sell more.

    Nats

I will DEFINITELY be at the Nats this year. At that time, I should have coolant tanks and side marker lenses to add to the TL lenses.

    Re: Nats

When will a prototype coolant tank be available for inspection by pic post? Is that being made with the black or clear top? Do you have a projected price range for those?

70 lenses won't fit the 71 bumper, the 70 lense is only unique for 70 only.

    Re: Re: Nats

    Jim,

Once I'm happy with the reproduction tank, I'll post a pic. Unless I hear different, tops are not being considered at this point because these don't seem as much in need and I have seen many used one's are available in the junk yards. In fact, although the bottles are different, the tops are the same on Big Car and Skylark Coolant tanks. I've got 4 or 5 tops. Its the tanks you can't find. I'm betting that most people want the tanks only and that their tops are fine and just need cleaning to be reusable.

My projected price range for the coolant reservoirs is $100. I am hoping that the quanties will be there to allow for a lower price.......but we'll see about that.

Well, the black tops are easy enough to find, yes. But early production clear tops are not. The same mold could be used to cast the clear and black tops, correct? So producing a full tank (tank and top) could be done, although the price would be a little bit more. The tops are very often warped or cracked (bad) if the car had ever overheated. This is the case on both of my cars (both are warped bad) and I know from others that I have seen that the tops get brittle (especially the clear tops) and start cracking. My $.02.
