is the smaller jet # the richer or leaner?and where can i get new ones ?i know you have to change metering rods when you change jets ,so them too :Brow:
Smaller jets will be leaner, larger are richer. Larger rods will be leaner than smaller ones at part-throttle. All (primary) rods have the same tips, so at WOT will be the same. I ordered some Q-Jet stuff last week from two sources: gmpartsdirect.com carburetion.com The items from carburetion.com arrived in about 3 business days, but the gmpartsdirect.com order appears to have not shipped yet. I searched all the "rods, jets" posts here before I decided what range of parts i wanted to work with. The GM part number for jets is 70319+jet size, i.e. for a 74 jet, 7031974. For rods, it is 70348+rod size, i.e. 7034843 for a 43 rod. This assumes you have the "early" Q-jet. I believe the rods for the later ones have a different part number. if you are messing with the secondaries, here is a table that gives you the GM part numbers for those: http://www.hioutput.com/tech/qjetrod.html Plenty of good info here on the board to get you started.
