That was one of the last things the ex did to me.
Got me to get rid of my 65 that I got from Jamie so that we could get the house painted, just before she left and I found out she hadn't made a house payment in about 8 months, both car payments were 6 or 7 months back.....

Don't miss her one bit but sure wish I had that car back!
I see the guy re covered the seats, produced a ball of wires on the transmission hump and jacked the price up. I think he's asking $6,500 on craigslist.

Do you know how hard it was to find that still in the box 8 track that's in that car?

The only reason I sold it was because I was an idiot who tried to make a she devil happy.

Lucky it didn't end up with tuck and roll interior in the car.
I think he's selling because he doesn't have room in the garage and it's probably leaking fairly good around the front and back window about now.
I don't think he's much into fixing sheet metal issues.

Well David,i guess we have different opinoins of it.:Brow: That very minimal rust was west-coast.The windshield was an easy fix, reseal as i saw it,the rear was not that bad, maybe a 2 hour job. From the cars of that era i've seen.:Do No: Still a nice car....but not worth 6K:pp I searched craigs & didnt see it.....got a link?

It is a nice car and well worth the work that it needs.
That's what I was suppose to be doing this winter.

I don't think he wants to deal with it though and with no garage he's got it under a tarp right now because the water comes through the windows pretty good.

It did have cancer around the front and back window. Not anything that worried me too much.
I think it was a pretty straight forward job and if I got in over my head, I have buddies that would have helped me out.
I figured that the windows come out, the repair would be done, and the paint would have been started.

Fixing some metal in the windshield and rear window channels isn't like fixing a quarter panel after all.
It needs to be a good job, but not perfect.

He had it listed on craigslist for $6500.
It looks like he pulled the ad when he put it on evil-bay.
I had hoped that I could buy it back from him but $6500 is a little steep for me.
Besides, lawyers and my ex are still battling it out for what's left of my money.

Don't get me wrong Jamie. I'm not saying that the rust he's not willing to work with made it an undesirable car.
I loved that car and so did my daughter. No regrets about buying it. The only regrets are that I sold it to put the money into the house and make the ex happy.

    Now that's funny stuff!!
    I drove the corvair.
    Like a crappy go cart!
The corvair couldn't have held a nailhead very easy either.
That's my ultimate goal for the 29 ford!

    DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I could only sell my model A I could drive the three miles or so to where the guy lives and buy it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ex is gone and I would LOVE to be able to have the car back.
Convincing me to get rid of the car to pay for the house getting painted was the last knife she stuck in my back before she left..... Not the last knife in my back and far from the most expensive, but the last one before I knew what she was up to.
At least when I had to hand her the extortion check every month I could drive there in my 65 that I wanted for so long and she got me to get rid of.
Besides, my daughter loved the car too.

nope ... 455 and it was rippin low 11's

David - dont feel too bad about the wife ... a buddy of mine found out his wife had turned into a crackhead. No house payments for 13 months, all bill unpaid for a long time, opened up credit cards and immediately took cash advances to the tune of 45K, sold ALOT of his tools that were put away ... and on and on. He had to sell the house he grew up in and his parents left to him just to get his nose barely above water. Get this - she called the police numerous times on him for abuse (her or the kids ... which he never did ...) once she called him from half way on the stairs, he comes out of the upstairs bedroom and says "what ??" she looks up and says "Why did you push me down the stairs ???" and takes a dive !! gets up all bloody and bruised and calls the police. Even though one of the kids saw it (unknown to her) he still spent the nite locked up for it.

    things could always be worse...

David... I think you should try real hard to make that happen. It's not often that a decent car is in the same state, let alone just down the street. I'd even give you the 2 bucket seats back

I'll send you more info about the car in a PM.

    Alan;
You are right, it could be worse. The home is just my home, not the old family home.
My wife also didn't make payments at least through 2010. I have never bothered to look at finances farther back than that.
    Car payments were the same.
I was able to pull out of the mess she left me with, until the judge stepped in and said that she should be able to steal a lot more!!!!!!
Now, I wait for his final judgement on the issue to know if I can swing keeping the house (complete with over $10,000 additional debt from interest).
The rest of my stuff is going to be gone no matter what.

Jeff, thanks for the additional info!
I am going to be trying harder to move my model A and my dodge ramcharger to try and pick this car up.
I may even go stop by and talk to the guy this weekend.
He's a wanabe car guy so who knows, maybe he will want the old Model A!!
