It has come to my attention that there is a-lot of badly reputated lurkers searching the buick forums to start a bunch of crap. Some of things I see on other boards amaze me. All the B.S. and crap. Here is a Chebby board who thinks they can go around lurking the buick boards and start some crap. Here's the link to one:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=614103&page=2

Some of the stuff they say on there is true, but one guy is lurking on turbobuick.com forum and starting somethin. Here is my message to all you chevy guys lurking on the buick forums(No affense to anybody on this buick board, just the sneakers): If you want a race to prove who's best, find the person you want to race, and don't talk crap behind peoples back. I personally don't care for chebbies at all, that's why i say chebby instead of Ch*vy. Especially some of you guys with the top-end cars. Don't race a take off car, race a buick that has "watch my tailights fade away as you get left behind" instead of the "watch my tailights fade in the qaurter mile run". Some of you chevy guys think you have the deuce-and-quarter to beat a buick, but if that's what you think, you have been pickin on the wrong kind of buick:af:

Im done blowing my steam:Dou: I hope no affense was taking any-way at all to anybody. I just hate people who make a living off of making up some crap.

Thanks for letting me express my feelings.

    skitzofrenic66 What's an Import?

hey cody, im with you bud. i like chebbies in that they are cheap and easy and make reasonable power but to think you can take a buick...tisk tisk. obviously those chebby idiots have never locked horns with a real car so their ego's are still puffed up. we all squash mopar chebby guys, its no big deal. how about the lurkers bring thier sorry butts down to the track when we are there? why not go head to head with one of us? put your balls on the line and stop talking. time to show you what a real car is. bring it on! :moonu:

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

Seems to me, there was a fair amount of respect for the GN's over there!!:Brow: :TU:

That was one of the more enlightened posts.:Smarty:

It's amazing that after all these years, there are still so many people that don't know a whole lot about the GN/TR's.:Dou:

  4. NJBuickRacer

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

Most of us that have fast cars respect the GN, I have both a Vette and 3 Buick cars living side by side in perfect harmony:grin: You were also browsing the C4 section for the 1984-1996 Vettes, those guys are jealous of almost everyone nowadays:laugh: I run mid 11s and still don't try my luck against any blacked out turbo Buick, especially with Ron's Custom Auto around the corner from my house. They have some VERY quick Buick turbo cars coming out of that shop. A friend of mine also has a 87 GN with 600+ RWHP, with the boost turned down he ran low 10s, with the boost turned up the car should turn 9s.......

  5. NJBuickRacer

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

I'm ready, my ET is in my sig, whatcha got for me?

You might want to run me now before I put the headers on, new cam in and swap heads since I'll be shooting for mid 10s...Plus I drive it to the track getting 28 MPG highway.

Respect has to work both ways ya know:spank: I respect my Buicks for what they are, fast with class. Refinement I don't get in my Vette. The Vette is just my back-alley brawler, and unlike my GS and Skylark I consider the Vette a modern throwaway car. Be careful of those "slow chebbies", one might just hand you your ass in a race one day....

I don't get this. I mean I can understand maybe the Ford guys raggin' on GM products, or the Mopar guys (although most of the Mopar guys I know like Buicks OK)

But surely we're all GM cousins, right? I mean my Buick runs lots of parts which are just the same as a Chevy and the body manul covers LeSabre, Electra, Pontiac's several full size, Olds 88, 98 and the Chevy Impala, Caprice & Biscayne

With a TH400 and a 10 bolt rear end etc. my Buick is only a different engine and some body panels away from being a Chevy anyway.

I'd rather drive a Buick (or Olds) than a Chevy, and thats why I have one, but if a neat Chevy came up at the right $$$ near me and I had space I'd buy.

When I race I'm looking to beat the other guy, doesn't matter if he's got the same car as me, in fact if he has that makes it more fun - see which of us is the better driver / builder that way :)

With all this rice about you'd think there'd me more to keep the V8 guys together?

    Just my thoughts.

Always remember, if it were not for Buick, Chevy would not exist.

Don't know what you mean "bad reputated lurkers" ...... I read through the whole thread and saw nothing but some guys just wondering how fast a Buick really was.......... Looks like alot of them already know, and one more is going to find out soon. I didn't see anything wrong with their posts.

    Hey, the more the merrier.

Sometimes people talk smack, and it is best just to politely agree with them. I had a high school kid once try to convince me that his Supercharged Grand Am was as fast as my GN because they "had the same engine block". No point in trying to convince him otherwise, so I just nodded and smiled.

this is one of my favorites.. he's finally heard more from the guy and this is his response..

"OMG< you all have togo see what there saying!

I dont know what his freind told him I said, but what hes sayinf aint very close!!!
I never insisted I wanted t orace my care against his...I asked him if he could beat a Z06, Zr1, Viper etc...He said he has, and could do it again.

LOL, as its sits my car wouldn't be a huge challenge to him, heck, he has a turbo...

Take the Turbo away, and what do you have???"

    LOL... he's toast..

We on this board pride ourselves on our abilities to keep things casual. I also sense that many of us appreciate other marques.

That being said, just remember that while this is a Buick board, we welcome ALL car enthusiasts to participate in our discussions.

We simply ask that all posts be done in a civil and genteel way. We are all adults and we can enjoy DISCUSSIONS about cars. We don't want to get into "trash talking" among ourselves.

If you own a brand other than a Buick, you are welcome here! All we ask is to show some decorum. And likewise, Buick-people, same for us. Don't start bashing other brands.

    Thank you.

I'm not bashing any brand here, but just want to add my 2 cents.

In my opinion, these 'vettes aren't as fast as they look. A few years back I raced one with mine, with my old tired motor, and I expected to get creamed. We stayed almost neck and neck, I was just a little ahead, until we got going around 75 MPH and I started pulling away from him. That's when he backed off.

I don't know what year or what motor that black 'vette had in it, but it was a newer one and I was quite surprised that it wasn't any faster. :bglasses:

I'll defend the Chevy 100%. Chevy's are good competition and I love lining up against them. Yes, its not my car of choice and I love to knock 'em, but its a great rivalry that I enjoy. Besides without Chevy's, we would be racing rice rockets and how significant is a rice kill?? If you kill one ricer, you've killed a thousand.

A Chevy at least will make a nice article, but the #1 all time kill is still the Hemi!! You kill an old-school hemi, then you are doing something right!:Brow: I've yet to line up against one. I can't wait till I get the chance, hopefully I'll be driving a 455 for the legendary battle.:TU:

Well, im not trying to bash any names, and what i meant by "bad reputated lurkers" is the lurkers that sneak through boards just to say something and start stuff on another board. There is even some lurkers that we don't know about that search the board and sometimes that ain't necessarily "good" by any means, but i can't see too much bad either. And don't get me wrong, i like chebbies, but trust me, the thought of buying products that say "ch*vy" on them over products that say buick on them are slim, very slim. Chevys are good cars though, but the whole point of this thread is putting up a message to get through all of the "bad lurkers" heads, not just chevy, that goes for all lurkers, that actions speak louder than words, so get out there and show some:TU:

    Im done now.

I am still confused.... :Do No:

Everywhere you go on the net, there are lurkers. All of us are lurkers to one degree or another. I still don't see any reference from the chevy board to this board in a manner that needs an amount of attention or warning. I agree with Yardley....How about we just get back to enjoying our Buicks and let EVERYONE read our fine board and maybe even post if they wish.

There are several boards I read but never post to. That makes me a lurker. Trolls, however, are another issue. Trolls post with the intent to start a flaming thread and sit back and watch the carnage.

Count me as one of those guys who chooses Buicks;GS's and Turbo Regals, over all else. However, being a car guy and a racer who has been known to race anything, even whose sunroof opened quicker, I still like a number of other cars and would add them to my garage if cash permitted. I would absolutely kill for a 67 Vette roadster with a 435hp 427, factory side exit exhaust, redlines, 4 speed and make it Marlboro Maroon please. wooh doggies, love those mid year Vettes. I'd cut my big toe off for a 2002 ZL1 Camaro. 600hp 427 LS based engine. Only 8 built. Sheeeit talk about a rocket sled. Anyway I digress, I think its perfectly OK if other guys want to come and check out the board. I just choose not to post an ET, just in case I might need to do a little work on the side with my Buick:Brow:

I am also a lurker, but im not a "troll". Maybe that's the name i should've used:Dou: That's the definition i put for lurker, but i guess it's really a troll:laugh: And the car that i would kill over now would be a 1970 skylark W/Fiberglass hood, trunk lid, fenders, quarters, and drop a big buick motor in it. Here is a thread that has the engine i want, but can't afford at the moment, and probably not for a-long time, but it's always good to keep your dreams with you............http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36905

I think we are starting to slip off the subject a little here though, so my last words are:Trolls are the name for the description i gave you in the first part of the thread, but I have no more to say.

I think it was pretty funny listening to those 'Vette boys telling their bro'....."I wouldn't race the Buick, he'll probably beat you"
