Is this the date code on my dipstick tube?

    Hi all

My spare dipstick tube has a "K" marked on the mounting tab and I was wondering if this is the date code, which if so I would interpret to be November or December, depending on whether the letter "I" was used, or not.

Am I off base here, or is this a fair assumption?

Not sure on the date code, but the 70 stick should have a red plastic cap on the end. Are you blasting it and painting it correctly?

Odd, the bracket on my tube is flat

If I ever plan to use it I will paint it correctly. As I said this is a spare.

The tab differs from the one that is on my car at present in two ways; 1) The tab on the spare has a round bolt hole, whereas the tab on the one on my car has a slot; and 2) the spare has a different shaped mounting tab than the one on my car.

    Cheers

Your bracket is flat because of the orientation of the bracket on the tube. It looks like your bracket was installed parallel to the tube, whereas the bracket on my spare tube was installed perpendicular to the tube.

I wonder if there are differences in the tube depending on the year, or manufacturer. What could prove useful is if anyone with all original cars post images of their tubes so that we could compare between the years.

In addition, I would still like to know if the "K" is the date code.

I don’t know if the dip stick tubes are dated but the 2-place spark plug wire retainers are.
