Well maaaaaaybbbbeeeee its time to change that attitude slightly while the board goes thru a few changes so you can remain a member. I dont know you so to me you sound like a guy who wants to push until you get booted. Calm heads and a little less keyboard diarea is in order here.

So.. the world has gone to "Hell in a handcart", so we should just join in?

    Nah.. maybe not.

You know me Renee, I swear like a sailor at times, and am hardly a right wing hardliner..

This issue here is simple to understand:

    You can't be "too clean"

    You can be "too dirty".

Most of us won't mind a cuss word now and again, but I don't want anyone, in the worldwide audience that this board has, to every worry about content on this site. I don't base my decisions on what others do, or what's on TV, or in "popular culture".

Call me old fashion, but I still think it's rude to walk up to a group of folks you don't really know, and start cussing your head off. Or start telling off color jokes.

And that is exactly what this board is. A group of folks that you don't know.

I am not so worried about people's kids on here, since I think that is a small segment, I just prefer to read intelligent conversation on various topics, and swearing was, is, and always will be considered, immature.

Even if I do it.. from time to time.

For the record, I love stand up comics, and don't mind the language used during their acts.. as in that context, it's expected. Although I do consider the best comics those who don't have to swear constantly. Since their acts generally contain more funny content, and less "shock value" situations.

Ya know... it kills me that some people feel like they need to make rules for others because we dont know how to control ourselves. I could careless how JW decides to run this board. Afterall its his and most of his decisions I agree with. What does bother me is the input he is receiving from a few members or moderators that help him make these decisions. Jim in no way is this a flame on you.... but please look at this thread and the LINK attached.

Theres a zillion other sites on the Net with all the profanity, perversions, and hatred that any person could want at anytime. Plus as stated before, there are rules to the sight that every user agrees on to join. So everyone who reads the rules knows we keep it clean here. Why push it? As for the changes to the "Cars for Sale" sub-forum, again its obvious........read the rules. This is a privately owned site, and its a darn good one. Why dissrespect all who can read the rules and the sites owner? I mean why? Its a clean site and I'm really happy for that. If I ever want a site fulla filth, I'll just surf the net.

Everyone always sees the worst. Nobody these days has a clean mind. They see something that could go either way and it's instantly dirty and bad and evil and etc. I'm sure the board has a word censor, why not use it? Then the mods wouldn't have to freak out and edit the post, reply to the post telling the person that they made a horrible horrible mistake and then send 4 pm's to the person about how they should watch their language because someone's 5 year old mind be reading the board which is a rediculous.

    wow...

I don't know about anyone else, but there has been alot said in very few rebuttles. I feel honered to be a member of a group boasting such intellect. I think for a "motorhead" site, or car-oriented we'll say, the level of content here and of Buick info is absolutely impecable. Certainly of great value to many, that is for sure. It is hard to remain idle sometimes, and not say anything, just read on...sometimes our rebuttles get a little out of hand if we disagree with someone or get offended. I THINK you have a group of primarily men, and well that's what happens. I'd like to think we don't need moderators at all, we all come and chat at our own free will and I think with no other intention than discussing Buicks and the like, as well as current topics. Conclusions to situations aren't always "cute and fuzzy", and hell if they were well life would get a little boring.
I posted a response about Chev/Ford suv's the other day, and being a GM emplyee, I ranted a bit for the home team-Go GM!-In no time my thoughts were duplicated to another post and then deemed "ridiculous". If you can't talk about a tow vehicle without being bashed, what can you?...I was a little discouraged by that, but oh well. Maybe he worked for Ford. There is some merit to what the original post says, I think, and without immediately reacting on the offensive I think anyone can agree with that.
Again, I'm a proud member here, here about Buicks. It's a great site...and to all who make it great keep up the good work.

I see your point John.. that post has been removed. I have always been a little easier on the stuff that is linked to the site, vs. the stuff that appears on our page, but we do need to be consistant.

Jim, how about instating the word filter? You can bleep out part of or the entire word automatically.

I have small children at home and I never think twice about letting them sit with me and view this site. :pp I understand how some may feel stifled by the rules & decorum here on this site, but "When in Rome do as the Romans do". This site has proven to be a nice place to hang out and share information and friendships.
Good job to all who run and manage this site! :beer

I can honestly say I have never posted on this board something I would not say to a person face to face, although I have always been a shoot from the hip person, people know where I stand. :Do No:

I can do that, and it is in effect for a few select words.

But an **** is just as bad as the word itself, we are all intelligent enough to know what word it was.

The idea is, speak intelligently, expand your vocabulary to be able to express concerns, ideas, and arguments in a mature fashion, in a manner reflecting the intelligent group that we are. We are "Buick Men and Women", and just like our cars, we should be above the normal rif-raf.

This site has been come to know as one of the best on the net, for auto info, because of the intelligent communitcation provided here. I am sure the writer from the Boston globe, would have just clicked off the url to another site, if he browsed thru and read what looked like a bunch of adolesents spewing venom.

Instead, it captured his attention, and merited a mention in his article in that respected paper. Without gettting too puffed up about it, I was very pleased to see that we, as a communuity, were selected for mentioning, due to our above average conduct, and the information and content provided.

    I'll chip in here.

When I went looking for a classic car to enjoy, one factor I looked at was the community itself. When I saw V8Buick, I knew there was something different. People seemed to have a higher level of respect towards each other, and a good feeling of friendlyness.

Another great thing is, people are always willing to help each other. And, certainly share lots of information. I know I'd be completely lost working on my car, if it wasn't for all the knowledge on here.

So, that's my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Boy!! Does this thread have a lot of miles on it!! I personally don`t care for lots of swearing and vulgarity on the Board, not needed to get a point across.
I love the site for sharing info and having a few laughs.Um...that`s all!!Later,Tony.

Carl Rychlik Let Buick Light Your Fire

I just want to add my 2 cents: I for one am extremely proud to not only own a stable of Buicks, but also be associated with Buick clubs that so many other car clubs envy. And I do mean ENVY. I've been to many car functions, and friends of mine who have no association at all with a Buick(they own Chevelles,Mustangs-you know the Brand X stuff) come over to me and ask me"How do you guys do it?" After them asking that,I ask them what they're talking about. "Your car clubs-you guys always stick together through thick and thin, and while all the other car clubs fall apart, you guys are the only one's standing-I'm very impressed, you guys are a class act". Now after hearing that, what could I say?(of course I did thank him for the nice comments). I felt elated that someone recognized us Buick guys for having the utmost in integrity and class. I really mean this guys-we should be proud of the friends we have and the cars we own. Like I said before,we are the billboard to the world and everyone is watching us.

Let's keep up the good work guys! :TU:

Fair for One Fair For All

First i'd like to say i'm certainly no angel nor do i feel like i'm the anti-christ.I've said a few things on here without thinking first several times, things i probaly shouldn't have said.In fact some threads have been "locked" because of me.Everyone probaly thinks i'm a raving madman, far from it though.I'm just the avarage Joe.I have tried to just refrain from commenting on certain threads-that works best for me and keeps me out of trouble with the Mods.
Here's what gets me though. The moderators seem to be to be above the laws set forth for everyone else. They can say pretty much anything be it political or whatever,if they don't like my comments or the comments of someone else,be it political or whatever they lock the thread.
Seems like what is fair for one should be fair for all.I realized i needed an attitude adjustment & have tried to just look the other way at alot of things i see posted. It's been working.I think some of the mods need an attitude adjustment as well. One mod posted a pic of a decal he was selling that had something about Nitrous and "hitting girls" with STD on it.We all know what "hitting" & "STD" stands for.If my son had saw that i wondered how i'd explain that to him.
I myself thought that to be very inappropriate for this site. That's just me though.
I have felt like the mods have targeted me before because of some of my opinions.Maybe i'm just paranoid?Anyone else feel like that?
Maybe i should have looked the other way on this too :Do No:
In closing-I would also like to say that i have a sincere intrest in saving all the old buick parts i can from the crusher and seeing that these parts make their way to people who need them.My prices are alot cheaper than most too.
Maybe i look like a fool again :Dou:
