9318D554-FC1D-488F-B910-1C26C1944EC1.jpeg Look at the build date for this Buick rear.....it’s so late, is it for our 68-72 GS?

    Either 342nd day of 1970,for an early 1971 car,or 342nd day of 71,for an early 1972 car.

    I thought 72 had 3 digit suffix and 71 had 2 digit???
    example
    LKB 1972
    LK 1971

Thought the far right 2 is shift (2nd shift)
    B buffalo plant
    342 day of year
    LK 2.56 ratio OPEN

??? I am sure there are more Buick gurus that will help on this?

I know....it appears to be a very very late build date. No way 72 Buick’s being built in December of 72.....maybe a warranty rear end?

The last “2” is the shift, not the year.

At the end of the day.....it’s a corporate 10 bolt with bolt in axles, fits an A body......all good.

Since the letter B is missing in code, it’s a 72 rear. So it must be 342nd day of 71, 2 nd shift.

    Thanks

Isn't there an additional Date Code cast in the lower right of the center section?

On the front side of the pumpkin,on the passenger side, there is a Julian date.
