LOL HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! WOW forgot pic.....try this. Thanks:TU: This should work in my 70 GS Correct??
That's an open differential with an aftermarket limited slip unit in it. They have been around for a while, I have never used one.. http://www.powertrax.com/ Not sure if what you picture is this unit or not, but it's an example of what is in there. JW
I believe the Chevy 8.2 is different than the BOP 8.2. I don't think it will fit in your original housing. You could swap the entire rear that would work.
That is NOT a LIMITED SLIP UNIT... It is a MINI SPOOL and does not release axles in turns it is like a full spool BOTH axles are LOCK NO RELEASE ever. You can install a Power trax spartan locker or NO Slip in that unit and it will give you a Limited Slip affect. The way it is now your tires will bark around corners and there is a chance the axle could snap if you take turns to slow and tight... Jim J D
Here are a bunch, but none of them will fit the 1970 8.2 Buick rear. http://www.summitracing.com/search/...sa-standard-gear-spartan-lockers?autoview=SKU
dude leave that one alone for a street car and keep looking, you really want a 8.5 anyway, they are out there stay on craigs list!!!
That rear is a 10 bolt 8.2 Cevy rear. I think I have a power trax on the shelf let me look real quick i will PM you. Jim I also have NEW Eaton posi traction unit also as long as the ratio is 3.08 -5.13 ratio Power trax can be used with any and all ratios. Jim JD
I too agree that it appears to be a mini-spool and you wont have it long until you break the pin or crack the carrier under a hard launch. Meant for dirt, not street or asphalt. If it were an aftermarket unit there would be 2 halves per side with teeth and be spring loaded so they would ratchet in corners. Problem is with those units you still rely on the cross pin and carrier for strength. I have grenaded several of these. For street use a clutch posi is what i would run for the best handling and reliability. For off road or drag racing you just cant beat a Detroit Locker.
