Is this a build sheet?

Tonight I was working on my convertible project and when I was done
removing the last of the duct work/heater, I looked over to see something that
looked a bit out of place. It was rolled up pretty tight and covered with
    black paint.

One side is printed "BODY SHOP INSPECTION" with a bunch of check boxes.
(none of which appear to be marked at all). On the other side are some
faint printing that it almost unreadable due to the age. On the edge is
a dried up piece of black tape.

I tried to scan a small part of the one side to show the writing but it
did not turn out very well.

Is this the build sheet or something else?
It doesn't look like any of the build sheets I have seen pictures of.

I found one of those in my car. I believe that is an inspection sheet from the assembly line, but not the build sheet.

    Bill,
Yes, it is a buildsheet. That sheet was used by Fisher Body to build your body shell.

Your car should also have another type buildsheet from either Buick or GMAD that will list the parts they installed to finish the car, such as engine type, etc.

They are some great pictures. Thanks for posting them.

It's an inspection sheet/repair ticket. There would be one of these for body shop, one for the chassis line, one for the final line, and if there were "short" repair lines after final they would be used there, too.

That is what is used to make sure the parts are installed correctly. It will say things like "harness - loose/shy/wrong" or "back up lights inop" or whatever. The inspectors will circle the deficiency and then farther down the line (either at the end of that foreman's area or at the very end of the line) the repairman would make the repair and then "buy it off" with a little hole punch. See the little "VZ" punchout? The punches are assigned, so that you can track the repair back to a particular repairman.

The basic printout is not specific to a particular car, but generic enough to be used on every car that comes down the line.

What's the very bottom picture? Is that the same document or something different?

The bottom picture is a close up of the printing on the back of the same sheet.
    It's really faded.

The way the tape is stuck to the paper makes it appear as though the
back side had the important information on it. Not the "Body shop inspection"
    side.

I try to get a better scan later tonight.

This sheet has some very specific info on it for your car. I can make out air conditioning and automatic transmission. It also should also have two letter codes for some options in small print as well as all options in giant letters made out of the "@" symbol. Should have interior codes as well as body color and your fisher body number that matches your data plate but not VIN. at the bottom of the page you should also see a build date. All this info is on the faded side. The back of the sheet is the same as mine. it is pretty easy to decode if you have an assembly manual.
