1971 intake but that is not the block casting number. More than likely though it is a 1971. Opps I see the block number in pic number 2 and it is 1231738. So it is a 1971. Also the cast date is January 16 so the car it once was in was likely a late January or Feb 72 build.
And yes, it's a 455. But I reckon you figured that out for yourself when you saw the 455 above the block number :laugh: Also the intake number 1236403 is the correct number for a 1971 455 engine.
the block has the last two digits of the year cast directly into it (ex. 74, etc) in fairly large numbers so it should be easier to figure that out than whether or not it's a buick motor. no, i don't remember where on the block.... :rant: only buick and cadillac have the distributor on the front of the engine. BBB's are the only GM big block that only have 5 bolts holding down the valve covers. SBB's have 6. just in case you find another motor you need to id. :Smarty:
