Donny, I believe you were running F70x15 Firestones last year. If this is true here is your rpms:

    MPH RPM
    101 5755
    102 5812
    103 5869
    104 5926
    105 5983

If you have different tires let me know and I will do the math.

The M20 killed my Judge last spring when I tried it. I lost 2mph at the top end to pick up less than a tenth at the short time. I got the speed back as soon as I changed her back to the M21. The 3/4 shift was killing the car. It could not pull the big drop strong enough.

Incidentily I just did the same type of test last weekend with my L89 Camaro at Lapeer raceway. The L89 could not pull the big drop either. So if my bigger motored cars can not over come the drop I wonder if your 327 stands a chance? Just a thought as I tried to get them out hard thinking it would multiply down track and it just did not work out that way with either car.

The other issue you may have with the double short gears is you will be shifting before or near the 60' lights. Will your car hold that shift or will it go up in smoke? Likely a Vette will hold the shift my Judge did but the L89 could not. Lapeer likely was the issue with the L89 not holding it.

Let me know if you want anymore math done.

Mark, that is about what I figured on, the 327 shouldn't have any trouble not breaking them loose on the shifts. If it does not work out, I will switch back :)

I've got an M20 with a 4.56 in my car and I have to agree, the 3/4 shift is so wide, it's almost like a 5 speed with no 4th gear.

May put the M21 in it and see how that works out, but not by this weekend.

Well the swap is completed. 3 Hours and a little sweat and everything is done. Actually seemed to go a little to smooth for Don we never lost a tool (Socket), and we are done 3 days before the race hmm must be a full moon out there....
