Is there a good set of pre-made wires for a 455 with a points style cap made for use with an MSD ignition? I wouldn't be opposed to making them from a universal set, but Im just lazy. I was hoping to just throw a set on.

You will not find a set that fits exactly to your liking. Best thing to do is buy 25' of wire from Summit and make your own.

Funny thing about spark plug wire sets.

The "Universal" sets have to be custom-fitted to your vehicle, and they end up looking and functioning the best.

The "Custom fit" sets are universally TOO DAMN LONG because they're intended to fit as many vehicles as possible, so they look terrible and have extra length that has to be tied-up or "hidden" or it'll foul on something and get damaged.

Wasn't there someone making valve cover bolts with studs for the TA covers so you can use the stock wire separators?

If you have good stock valve cover bolts w/ the stud, they will work on TA covers with the stock thickness VC gasket. I have that set-up on both an iron engine and Tomahawk, both w/ TA heads in two GS’s. George N sent me everyone one he had. If you need any, let me know.

Thanks Bob. I never thought to use the stock ones! Duh... Yeah, I have a big bag of them in the basement

They have just enough thread to work. That’s why you need good ones.

The chrome repo ones I had only had a couple of threads engaged.
    So I made these up.

Very tedious. There are cheaper options. But I had the time.
SS bolt and nut, cut threads farther up the bolt, jammed the nut to the full diameter, and lightly welded on the thread side. The 7/16 hex is too big, has to be milled to 3/8 hex, shank was turned to size, and partially chamfered/ parted off the bolt head.

Kind of a shame they get covered up.

What length did you make the threads?

7/8 of exposed thread, for cast covers w/ cork gaskets, gave the same thread engagement as tin covers and / black fiber gaskets.

The shaft is a little longer also 1.200" long (Total over all length is: 2.300")

Using a metric washer, fit in perfect as is, m6 I believe.

Me too! I'm currently using a set of spacers under my valve cover and needed a very long screw portion.
Made with stainless hex bar stock and polished.
