Per subject title: is it possible/ feasable to turbo a 455? I know the 350's are good candidates but what (apart from budgetary constraints which I do have) puts the 455 out of the picture? Can a stock or mild 455 be made to crank out 600HP at low boost? How big a turbocharger is needed for a 455? I am only familiar with turbo basics.

    Best Regards,

Yes a 455 can be boosted. A block girdle is recommended. 600HP and some crazy torque #s wouldn't be hard with a single T3/T4 hybrid.

    things to consider:
-Forged (dished) piston 9.0:1 or lower
    -Block girdle
    -0 gap molly rings
    -blow through carb
    -ARP head studs
-do you wanna run a internal waste gate or a B.O.V.?
-stock manifolds or custom made headers?
-methanol injection (lets you run higher boost on lower grade gas)

    How are your fabrication skills?

Call Mark Burton at Burton Machine, he can talk you through everything and he also has a section the vendors section here.

How does this sound to you? This is a mild 455

Trying to make 600hp on a 455 with one hybrid is like trying to make 600hp naturally aspirated through a drinking straw. Hybrids have tiny exhaust housings which makes them spool fast. I would never try and run a 455 through such a small exhaust side, and a typical hybrid compressor isn't going to support 600hp.

    Just my opinion.

Yeah, go with a large turbo or better yet two large turbos!

I like to go conservative on the turbo sizing. Lots of people pick bigger turbos than are needed, which is why turbos still have a reputation for lag.

Thats what a 25-50 shot is for lol, but really only needed with a bigger or unmatched turbo....beside, on the street lag kinda helps with traction, and on the track when you have traction, its like foreplay

I used two hybrids on my first build and it had really bad boost creep. Using twin T04's now with no boost creep issues. I figure I am making 575 hp based on et and the weight of the car on 4psi.
