Is a '66 Electra rear housing the same externally as a '67 Wildcat?

Will a complete rear out of a '66 Electra swap into a '67 Wildcat? I understand the carrier inside may be different, but can I swap a complete rear? I found a junkyard '66 with posi and want to swap it in. Thanks, Brian.

Still trying to hunt down the interchanges; - but; the carrier is different but the physical dimensions should be similar considering that the frames were essentially the same. The posi is square whereas the regular has a rounded carrier.

I'll let you know if I come up with anything definitive.

I have the '66 rear at home now. When i do the swap i will take pictures and compare the two. There appears to be some casting differences in the center section, but im thinking the complete '66 rear will bolt right in. I will post again when i get the swap going.

The two rear end housings appear to be identical as far as mounting locations and width. The only external differences I see is that the '67 Wildcat rear has extra webbing or ribs in the front of the center section. In other words, from the rear end cover towards the pinion. I'm guessing I have a first series '66 rear and maybe they decided to beef up the housing for late '66 and later housings. Part number on the '66 housing is 1374836.
