Is a 1969 Riviera 430 same as 69 wildcat

I bought a 1969 wildcat 7.0 430 the body is in pretty good shape same with under the car the issue is the last owner ran the sh** out of it and my guess would be because the oil problem it destroyed the engine.

Now my question is will a 430 from a 69 riviera bolt up to my 69 wildcat trans? Or is the bolt pattern going to be different?

I'm pretty new to cars and this is my first engine swap.

 

You're in luck...the engines are virtually identical except for maybe some vacuum hoses or other misc stuff. The Riviera 430 will bolt right into the Wildcat and trans pattern is identical also. I think even the motor mounts are the same on R and L sides, someone else may be able to confirm. If not, just use the Wildcat motor mounts and you're good to go.

Tho oil pan will need swapped,the Riv is center sump, Wildcat is a rear sump. If the Riv was a 69 you will need a mechanical fuel pump. The 69 Riv was in the fuel tank.

 

Good call...and not just the pan swap, but oil pickup as well will have to stay with the Wildcat.

Correct. 69hellcat mentions the '69 Riv pump is an in-tank electric, so stick with the Wildcat mechanical pump.

Oh gotcha

 

One thing you would need to check is IF the Riv. has the fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam to be able to mount the mechanical pump & have it function.

Shouldn't be a prob, all the BBB cam cores feature the fuel pump eccentric.

I'm pretty sure all the Riviera's had dual exhaust so you will need to use the Wildcat's 430 exhaust manifolds maby?.
Some Wildcats had the dual exhaust option I believe but not sure if the manifolds were the same because of the frame difference.
