Just what the title says, is it too big for a 350-2? I plan on getting the flowmaster american thunder system on it, and changing it to a 4 barrel after getting some other things sorted out. I want to hit atleast high 15's before tearing the motor down
I've got 3" on my 72GS w/462. My feeling is that if you're going to put on a new system, get one big enough that you'll never regret it and have to think about changing it later. Go for the 2 1/2.
I have the 2 1/2 american thunder on mine. Sounds sweet. Just take note that it is a header back system and will not bolt directly to the manifolds. You will need either headers or "down pipes". Down pipes go from the manifolds to where headers would dump out. TA perf sells a nice set of down pipes. as far as the crossmember, my four door has the double hump, I think all skylarks will have it. -nick
Why would ya need down pipes? Can't ya just cut the Y pipe and hook into that? That double hump thing is the wrost part, that is if you don't have one. Other wise it take allot more work to run dual down one side without one.
i havent bothered to check the crossmember (too lazy) but i really doubt they made a single hump cross member for a skylark of 1970 vintage The system i want to buy is for headers, so i'd need a downpipe from each manifold to hook up to the exhaust until i got headers, i dont think the y pipe would be able to used..
The downpipes cost $100 from TA, so you'd might as well save alittle extra for the headers. Don't forget the cost of welding those pipes too. I got a set of downpipes I'm looking to get rid of once everything's in place with my engine. If you're interested let me know as I will probably sell the downpipes all the way to mufflers. My system is already welded together and I'm probably going to go with a X-pipe, so I won't need the pipes going back to the mufflers.
great point... so maybe ill just deal with the lack of any rumble from the car until i can get headers to go with the exhaust..
