Just dropping a line to get started on this board. I actually joined back in April but I never got on line again due to too many projects and not enough time to live or do anything fun.

But with summer winding down, I'm hoping to find some V8 friends, old and new.

I have three V8 Buicks, a 56 Super model 56 r with the original 322 nailhead, a 1969 Electra Limited, with the original 430 and 129K, and last year we just got a 1969 GS 400 Convertible with 27K original miles.

All three run and run okay when used regularly. However none are fully restored, and I hope to be doing this over the next few years. I have been trying to do everything that I can myself, first to try and save a buck, but equally to feel the sense of accomplishment that comes from such endeavors.

I look forward to meeting people on this site, and helping others through the benefits of my experiences.

    Thanks for the read!

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Gold boattail, that's a really nice Riv there. Of course my Rivie is a v6 but with the supercharger, it moves along quite nicely, at least untill I put a third passenger in the car. Do I see you on the ROA email list ? And yes Smartin, I review the BCA boards regularly. Even posted a few times too. It's always good to talk about Buicks no matter what board I'm on. And thanks for the compliment on my stable Patrick. I hope to redo this picture next summer after I repaint my 69 Electra. It is quite a challenge keeping them clean, but when they are all waxed at the same time, I feel really great, so I try to keep it up.

Hope to see you on other messages as I figure out how this board works.

Well Allen, The car was pretty much stock and lacked options. It was originally purchased in the Bronx, NY, and is more notable for it's bench seat, crank windows, AM radio , steel wheels and standard hubcaps plus non power drum brakes. It does have A/C and tinted glass while now it sports the chrome 14" road wheels as well as an AM/FM radio.

The original owner apparently wanted a unique car, so he had a Jaguar hood ornament mounted directly between the ram air hood openings. He also had the windshield post drilled and mounted a police spotlight. Then he proceeded to bang up just about every corner or panel that he could. Only the drivers door and trunk lid are straight, although nothing else is so bad that it can't be shown.

When the original owner passed, his brother took the car. Then, when he was done their niece took it. and thats where I got it from.

It will need some professional attention for the body eventually, but at 27K, and being garaged all it's life, it drives like a dream. The pot metal is unpitted, but the interior needs some extra work. Old canvass smell from the original top drives my wife crazy, yet it is all there except the chrome trim around the cigarette lighter and one of the stainless steel caps for the third rib of the convertible top. Also the electromagnet on the AC compressor got fried somehow, but the rest of the stuff is still solid and one opinion thinks it may still have the freon.

I had two estimates on redoing the body. Both included removing and reinstalling all the chrome, stripping the car and straightening the dents, new base/clear coat red paint ans reinstallation of the chrome. Iwould have to pull the door panels. One price was 4K, the next 4500. I just think I'll try it myself next summer.

BTW, your's look fantastic. Love the smokey tires. Not sure I'd do that with mine, but it does look sweet!
