Well, a guy I work with owns a 69 cutlas. This past summer he had a 396 in it. According to him it was the *%$#. Needless to say he blew it up. I Own a 70 buick skylark, 350.4. He was always wanting to race me. I was a little leary, wasn't sure how I'd fair in the bigblock world with my small block. I guess he is now rebuilding a 454. Just so happens i'm now in the middle of a 455buick rebuild, 74block, and stage one heads.(wasn't i pleasently surprised) by the heads, seing how i paid $100 for the engine. Lets just say that both our engines should be done about the same time. For some reason, he's lost the confidence he once had. He still wants to race, but he informed me he's installing NOS! Sounds to me like he lacks confidence in his engine without NOS////

Sweet car!!! :bglasses: Im sure if he has enough confidence he might lay off the nos, otherwise we all know he has no confidence in it if he thinks he has to use it

    Cool car :3gears: :TU:

Don't tell him you're putting a 455 in...let him know you still have the good ol' 350 to contend with his bogblock....

Then he will be less inclined to use his NAWWZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

He will not be able to tell a 350 from a 455 anyway. OR tell him you are putting in a 250 hp shot. He will then go for a 300+ shot and we can imagine the effect of that

I put a 455 in mine, I had Poston valve covers on the 350 and put Poston valve covers on the 455. I used the same air cleaner and the same 795 cfm Edelbrock QJ on it. I don't tell anyone but friends, nobody here really knows the difference. I lift the hood at local functions, people don't give it a second look. I used ported stock exhaust, the only giveaway is the coating, but I just tell them it's cosmetics. It's just like lying to your date.
My last race was with a SRT 4, he still dosent have a clue.
    Stealth is fun.

    otter It'll be done someday.

Since my car is a '68 'Lark I am putting 430 valve covers on my 455 and then I am getting a few different valve cover stickers that will be applied to thin magnetic sheets so that depending on what I want people to think I can put 300-4, 350-4, 400-4, 400-4 stg1, or 430-4 stickers on. I would like to get a set like my avatar since the 430-4 stage 2 was extremly rare. Maybe I'll just have a set made at a graphics place. I saw this done on a car in Hot Rod magazine back in the '70s. It was an article on sleepers and the guy had a 65 skylark with 300-4 stickers on the air cleaner and valve covers but it was really a built up 455 stage 1 engine. Then of course after he's blown their doors off he tells the guy he's thinking about dropping in a big block some day. Then it will be really fast. The poor guy that just got suckered will probably never line up next to a GSX thinking they must be low 10s from the factory!

The only problem is the 300/340 look a lot different than a 350/400/430/455 which look idential if I remember correctly. I know if I looked under the hood and saw a 455 with 340-4 stickers on it I'd know it was a gimmick anyways and I've never owned a 340 or a 400/430/455.
