I actually got in the garage today!!! Sprayed a little guide coat on the interior. Looking good. I wet sanded a small spot and hit it again. It's going to look great. Here's some pics for ya.... primer...
The shop that will be fixing the quarter panel, will be painting the body. I have all the lights, glass, molding, doors, fenders, rubber etc off already. I was toying with the idea of stripping off the white house paint myself but, that may be more mess than I'm into, not sure though. The guy who hit me, his insurance money is paying to fix and repaint just the damaged area (1800) but at this point the shop will just paint the whole thing. There's no real taping, removal or replacement for them to do. Just strip it-paint it. These guys only do BC/CC and mostly all classics and muscle cars. They quoted me around 3500 for the paint alone but, now that all the hardware is off I'm hoping to work it out with them for around 1000 cashola. Couple of weeks to go.
I'm going to go with Silver/Grey (ZZ) the factory color. What do you think? I found this one on ebay. Of course mine will be sweeter....:Brow:
Nick we want more pix:Brow: Even if they're just of the car sitting in the garage completely torn apart:laugh:
Adam, more pics tomorrow. I will get in there and do some work tomorrow...... I will get in there and do some work tomorrow...... I will get in there and do some work tomorrow...... That ZZ finish with red interior will be awesome! I need some MO tivation myself. Dang work getting in the way of Buick WRENCHING. Year end stuff must be finished this week, so I'm at my work computer -on v8buick.com of course...
The red interior was great already just the paint had dirty rust bubbling and worn through on door tops dash and steering column. Luckily all the panels are in good shape. Just a little cleaning and they'll be good to go. Here, this will motivate ya's, I'll post a before pic of my steering column...
and like magic......wa-laa!! After taking completely apart, sanding to steel, primer, paint, then put back....
perty......inside and out... Kids, don't try this at home. The guts of a tilt wheel require patience, skill, and the service manual.
