Greetings I am working on a 1970 Buick GS 350, and it has sandalwood standard interior. I have removed the back window to fix a leak and was wondering where I could get the correct color paint to match the interior trim at the base of the back window, and I also need to source the correct package tray to replace the shag carpet! I don't know if it matters, but I do have speakers under the package tray, so speaker holes would be nice but if not correct then I can live without the holes.

    thanks,
    Kirk

I ordered some dark sandalwood spray from evilbay. I will report back how well it matches my steering column. Screenshot_20240201-172446_eBay.jpg

    Thanks Ron,
    Be curious how it matches

Surely. It sounds like it is hit or miss with matching so I don't have my hopes up too high.

  6. There was a place called Tower Paint in Wisconsin that will sell it in the correct Buick interior color (dark sandalwood) in a spray can. Check and see if they’re still selling it. If you’re in a pinch, I might have a can left over from 2015.

Another option gone! Eventually we will find something Ron if your EBay purchase doesn't work out

Have you guys checked to see if your local auto paint store offers mixing interior factory colors in an aerosol? Or some form that might be affordable and usable?

I did talk to a local Federated Auto Parts employee, and will be checking back with him next week to research it a little better

I received my dark sandalwood aerosol today. Tested on bottom of 2 columns. Disappointed. :( 20240207_165540.jpg 20240207_165622.jpg Screenshot_20240207-170152_Gallery.jpg 20240207_170734.jpg

Well that stinks Ron... is there any chance you could take something like the ashtray in to a body shop and have them try and match it? That's what I was told to do at Federated auto parts, or find a paint store with one of these scanners that can mix the paint onsite

I did find an auto parts store that can mix a match. They say their camera needs a piece of 6x6 in flat sample to scan. Pretty tough to get off of a steering column.

    Ron,
Your steering column......It looks more green( column) than sandlewood (brown). Is that factory with the standard interior? What color are your seat belts?

I am sure everything is original. My grandmother purchased her in 69. It does have a slight green tint. Even the antique gold exterior has a hint of green. 20230102_142713.jpg

This top column shows how much lighter the sun faded area is. My bottom column shows what a difference daily parking in a garage can make. The pieces in your first pictures may have been sun faded? It appears to me to be very close to my "DSAN" colors. I would describe my color as between tan and light olive. 20240207_164734.jpg

Looks good Ron. I think I might try to get some similar to what you used. I don't think the metal package tray is sun faded. I removed the partial paper tray that was covered with carpeting. It looks like a green/brown combination that looks different depending on lighting. My column is different than my ash tray........column is lighter
